This is an excellent pattern for gorgeous custom window valances. The instruction booklet covers many options and can seem a bit overwhelming until you sort out the specifics for your design choice and window size. The videos on YouTube are incredibly helpful. I have done two wide windows and two narrow windows and am delighted with the crisp professional results. I plan to use this system on more windows in my home. The creative options are endless. I am an experienced sewist and would not normally gravitate to a no-sew project, but the results with this are so good that I am sold on the no sew concept for window valances. Biggest piece of advice when using no sew/iron on techniques: don’t over iron or the adhesive will let loose, especially with the trim.

I purchased the Traceable designer valance kit in May, I was so nervous to put it together, I sent a message to the creator and I got a phone call from Linda, yes I never expected this however she called and could not be kinder and full of help. Once I got my confidence I cut my fabric after I ironed the backing heat and bond. That is what gives the valance a professional finish. A braided ribbon and onion tassels was what I used for the hem, glue gun to attach and presto, pure beauty.. My challenge was daring I went for a huge project 12 feet 7 inches wide. My salvation was using the floor to piece it together. I used wood and stapled it together and with L shape brackets, one side screwed on to my board the other side of the bracket screwed straight into the ceiling. After my valance I went for a smaller project I-build a cornice made out of wood and vinyl, This starter kit saved me thousands of dollars from a professional fee to a do it yourself kit with patience and guts. Go for it, the transformation from plain windows to fabulous. If you like to decorate no project is completed unless your window make a statement. Instructions are very difficult to follow. Written for multiple styles but very unclear. Definitely not worth the cost. I ended up making my own stencil and wasted a lot of fabric trying to follow her Instructions. Would not recommend.

Even though I know how to sew, I thought this would save time and it did! The templates in the kit are straightforward. I will say understanding the instruction manual took the most time. It’s a bit wordy and confusing for someone who just needs the basics. Overall, this was a great purchase and I’m pleased with the results. I created valances for 8 windows!

I was a little skeptical about the product at first, but boy was I wrong. The templates and instructions are on point and precise. I made a sample arched style valance in no time and I was hooked. So much so, I immediately ordered the Master Decorator kit as well. Always looking forward to learning new techniques and making my decorating process easier.
