Great book!
I listen to their podcast and had to buy the book as well. While the podcast is hugely informative and motivating, Invested is even better. Danielle really breaks down how to value companies in an easy to read and easy to understand way. Compared to other books about Buffett this one really stands out in that, it breaks down what to focus on to a few simple formulas and numbers. Further, the way Danielle wrote this, it's entertaining, and while you're educating yourself it's still a fun read. I've listened to most of their podcasts and again these are helpful, but it is hard to know what to do math wise after listening to them. With invested having all the number in front of you, it's pretty clear what you have to do. Going to wrap this review up, so I can get back to my spreadsheets :). Thanks again Phil & Danielle for helping teach us how to fish, and for writing it down and recording it so we can take it back and really learn the stuff. Well done!

The definitive guide to investing for anyone who has ever struggled to understand personal finance
I absolutely loved this book! I've always felt embarrassingly ignorant of and intimidated by investing. It never made sense to me and my eyes would glaze over the second anyone tried to explain it. Still, I wanted to give this book a try, because I've always wanted to understand investing, as much as it scares me, and I hoped this book might help me gain more control over my finances. I can honestly say it did. By the time I had reached the last page, I felt empowered, excited, and informed. And I also felt unexpectedly moved. The intimate and engaging writing style held my interest all the way through. Finance is such a deeply personal topic, so it was refreshing to read about the more personal side of Danielle's journey, and to see how through overcoming her fears and turning to her father for help, they were able to move beyond past misunderstandings and strengthen their bond. Learning about investing alongside Danielle, both through her own explorations and through conversations with her dad, made a previously confusing topic clear and accessible. I finally feel like I have the tools to dip my toes into the investing waters, and would highly recommend this book to anyone else who has previously found this topic difficult to digest.

Great Read for Old and New Investors Alike!
I read both of Phil Town's books, Rule #1 and Payback Time, for the first time back in 2010. Both were excellent in explaining the Graham/Buffett/Munger approach to investing and how the "little" guy investor could apply that approach to achieve similar 15% annual rate gains. In the intervening years, my Roth IRA, where I do my Rule#1 investing, has achieve a 19% AROR which attests to the fact that these investing principles work.In addition to reading the books, I've been a follower of Phil and Danielle's INVESTED podcast and attended one of Phil's weekend workshops. So I began reading Invested with some curiosity but also with the expectation that I wouldn't learn anything new. With regard to the bottom-line Rule #1 approach, my expectations were validated to some extent - but what INVESTED did do was add clarity to this investing approach as well as force me to look at it from a fresh perspective.INVESTED will also appeal to those who love a good story. All of the book is written from the perspective of Danielle who, despite the fact that her father is a very successful investor, never had any interest in investing herself. The book really is her story about her life and how it came to be that she came to the realization that she needed to learn how to invest in order to free herself from her financial shackles; her emotions as she began to learn from her father; the frustrations that come with learning a new skill; and then the elation that comes from having mastered that skill.Overall, it was an enjoyable and informational read that will appeal to anyone.

step by step journey into the world of value investing
One of the most thoughtful, complete, books I have read on investing. It documents Daniel's journey into the word of value investing; her fears and ultimate conquests. It is a very honest "travelogue", documenting the investing journey of an initially fearful, reticent investor as she navigates her way through the intimidating, arcane world of finance. It is detailed and approaches the Graham, Buffett, Town methodology of approaching the stock market as businesses you wish to own, not merely equities. Several practical approaches to determining and distinguishing marketprice from the underlying fundamental value of companies are explored. Ms Town treatise simplifies complex theories on investing into reproducible principles that can be applied by the motivated student who seeks financial independence.

Inspiring story and a practical approach for the beginning investor.
This is an excellent book on investing using the "Rule #!" style. Danielle shares her experience in learning how to invest from her dad. The story format is very engaging and keeps your interest throughout the entire book. I have read Rule #1, Payback Time and follow the podcast so this was familiar to me but the details are laid out in such simple steps that it is easy to follow and understand. Questions I have had in what to look for were answered in Danielle's experience. The monthly practice steps give a simple plan to follow in your own investment practice and will be invaluable to me going forward. Overall, this is an excellent book, giving practical instructions on investing, and will be an invaluable addition to my library.

An actual STORY of learning investing - and it’s so FUN and personal and really gets into how afraid Danielle was of starting. It teaches investing along the way with extremely clear directions, checklists, and equations. I don’t usually buy business or investing books, but obviously I know I have to do something with my money. I just haven’t wanted to get into it. But Invested made me think it could actually be interesting, fun, and something I could really enjoy. Plus, the way Phil and Danielle talk about money and the problems it has caused in their relationship, as well as thankfulness and Missions, has made me realize there’s a lot more to this money stuff than I expected. I’m excited to start!

This book is the most comprehensive book I have found to understand the essence of value investing. It is the first book I hope to share with my children when they come of age.
