I’m really glad I bought this book! The breakdown of each type of marbling technique is incredibly helpful. Years and years ago, I’d tried a vague attempt at doing paper marbling, but I didn’t stick with it because I didn’t know what I was doing nor did I know that such a wide variety of designs can be made with marbling. In the book, there are 4 “foundational” patterns and then 30 advanced patterns.There are a LOT of photos, which I love. I prefer instructional books to have a lot of photos so that I don’t have to guess what the process looks like to know if I’m following along correctly. The photos are vibrant and show EACH step, which is reassuring. There are also arrow diagrams to help visualize how to create the patterns as well. The book is pretty enough to double as a coffee table book (if you trust house-guests with your favorite art books, that is).I also like that it’s laid out in a way that’s kind of a “choose-your-own-adventure.” There are initial instructions for if you just want to test this out to first see if you like the process (without investing in every single supply), and then the book gets into the whole process with higher-end supplies.We’re planning on doing this together as a family activity also and then using our favorites as family-created wall art in the living room. The only concern I have now is making space for one more recurring art project! :)

As someone new to marbling, this book has been a wonderful guide. The organization of the material, the photos, and the insight from the author regarding common frustrations of marbling and how to work through them, are spot on. I refer to this book more than any other on the topic of marbling.The colorful and instructional pages makes paper marbling accessible to anyone who is interested in exploring the art form. It is obvious that the author is passionate about marbling and this book is an expression of sharing that passion and accumulated knowledge with others.

Great book for learning how to create specific patterns. More focused 9n paper marbling than fabric, but still good getting the basics of water marbling.

I marble paper professionally, and I like to look at how other artists do this ancient art/craft. Of the books I've gotten on this, this one is the most visually appealing and inspiring. There are many colorful photos and the artist seems to be well-versed on her craft. The only downside is some of the steps to create certain patterns, are missing photos to go with the instructions, or appear out of order which will make recreating them more difficult.

Focus is on the acrylic method which the author found as the simplest to use. Great color photos

I am thinking of marbling paper to use as the front and back piece in hand made books I am making for my photographic work. I found this book straightforward and imaginative at the same time. Thoroughly recommend it.
