Perfect without a land line!
We got rid of our landline and have been using this new phone system with our cell phones (2) for a few weeks and love it. It was easy to set up and pair both cell lines with it. There is one base unit that has a handset if you want the feel of a "real" phone in your hand, as well as the two cordless units that have small bases that plug into electric outlets. I have the base unit on my desk plugged into an electric outlet, and the other units in a bedroom and kitchen. Whenever either one of our cell phones rings, the phones all ring and we can answer on whichever we choose (either #1 or #2 flashes depending on which cell it is). It is easy to transfer the call back to your cell phone too if you want to head out with the cell phone and the call. I really like the ability of the base unit to read the caller ID aloud! I can hear the caller ID read out before I can walk over to the phone to see who it is (if I don't have the cell phone on me). I don't use the answering machine on the phone, since it is easy to get voice mail on the cell phones directly. The speaker phone works well and I've used it many times while I'm at my desk. No one has complained on the other end yet! The phone easily brought in my cell phones directory - so no need to enter all your phone numbers. These phones are exactly what I was looking for.

Pretty Good - sound quality not what I expected
A month ago, I purchased these phones as a way to break my cell phone habit. I didn’t want to miss calls, so this was my solution. If you can pair earbuds, you can pair the phones easily by following the directions. I do not have a home line so other reviews claiming you need one are incorrect. The issues I have with them is the sound quality and Bluetooth interference with other speakers. The sound quality is worse than other blue tooth devices I have used. My earbuds produce a better sound for me and my callers than these phones which was surprising, as those were a $40 pair. They sound a bit far away. The other issue is the phone connection interferes with my Bluetooth speaker. If I want to listen to music or an audiobook, I now have to use my iPad instead of my iPhone. Otherwise, it will skip every ten seconds or so. Very annoying but easily avoided assuming you have more than one device.Overall, I’m please enough to continue to use the phones. I appreciate having multiple areas where they are located, so I’m not racing around the house trying to get my cell phone. I also appreciate the speaker phone feature. And the success in breaking my cellphone habit, especially at night, has been great for me personally.

Panasonic products really never let me down and this is no exception
Bought this phone a little over a year ago. So far it has performed flawlessly. I do not use the answering machine function since I use my Optimum voicemail so I can't vouch for how good the answering machine works. Good sound quality from handsets and base.LOVE LOVE LOVE the bluetooth. I no longer have to keep my cellphone near me when I am home. The Panasonic links flawlessly to my Nokia 7.1 and my previous Nexus 5X. Also love that the ringtone of this feature is distinct from the Panasonics normal ringtone. That way I can easily tell whether the call is originating from my cell or not.Speakphone on base unit works awesome. I never get any complaints from friends or clients. I don't use the speakerphone on the portable handsets much but when I have nobody has complained.Don't really have anything negative to say about it that I can think of other than I can't seem to find a way of reviewing and managing the numbers I add to the Call Block. Would like this ability in case I may block a good one by accident.

Excellent, but take lot of time to learn how to set up all this function/program
After 25 years I decided to have (phone landline again) So I purchase this Panasonic KX-TGF 382M DECT 2 handset landline phone. Some how I was thinking that setting up will be easy, but is not. I have new smart phone and with setting and using is very easy. This Panasonic? Oh is very difficult to set up. And I'm working in progress on this, this phone have so many function and perhaps will be user friendly if you learn and memorize everything how to program and use. Yes it's come with instruction/manual but is 95 pages of small print. What I like the most is: you see on screen who is calling and voice will announce caller if you to fair from phone to see screen. Sound quality is very good LCD display is superior big and with adjustable tilt. So perfect for old folks with poor vision. This phone have so many functions what you program/set up and memorizing/learning all of them take time. But when you get use to, then it will be perhaps the best phone you ever owned.

Battery life needs help but great otherwise.
The batteries just don't last as long as they really could. Other than that the phone really is clear. Speakerphone works amazingly well. Especially on the base station. The page feature is awesome! The other features all work. The voicemail was a cinch to set up. I just remember growing up with handsets that could last for days without finding the base station... Didn't quite figure I was going to have to charge this thing once every few days. The darn things are supper easy to read though. I honestly would have liked a feature that makes the darn thing not use the backlight as much.
