Connecting Threads Beginner Quilt Kit - Hoodoo (Tesselations)

I recently learned to sew, and this was my first quilt project.The directions are clear, but for those new to quilting, you should probably watch some videos, pick up some how to books, etc. I bought a couple reference books, and I have been on Utube a lot, and have taken a couple craftsy classes. For those, who know how to quilt, this pattern should be a breeze, it's all stripped pieces, and the assembly looks very straight forward.I would say that for the fabric alone, this is a good purchase. Most of my sewing purchases have been though Amazon Prime, and by far my favorite quilt shop is connecting threads. There fabric is really nice quality. It's thick, they include selvage edges with their fat quarters (not all companies do), and the colors are always lovely. Again, I am a new sewer, but I have been knitting, spinning, and dyeing my own wool for almost 15 years now.This kit is super cute and reminds me of going on a picnic. It was so fun to make!

From the extremely easy-to-follow instructions, to the ease of assembly, this quilt top kit is an excellent introduction to basic straight line sewing and quilting techniques. You'll need a good sewing machine and thread, but otherwise everything else is provided to finish the quilt top. You will need to provide your own batting and backing fabric, however.The fabrics included with the kit are rather rustic, but do look very nice when assembled. As the photos show, the quilt is of a decent size for a first project. If you're looking to learn how to sew and to quilt (as I was), this kit can't be beat.One final note: Youtube is your friend, both for looking up terms, and for figuring out how to do things like basting the quilt in a small space, and binding the final quilted sandwich to form the full blanket.

Enjoying the beginner project. The cloth is fairly thin but the patterns are nice. I did need help from a quilter friend in interpreting the cutting instructions. That could be improved. The four star is really related to the fabric. Will definitely order other projects.

Loved the fabric colors and pretty patterns. Assumed pieces in kit would be pre-cut for assembly & not just large pieces of fabric.

I just finished this quilt. I hate to give reviews before I've even tried something. It is really very easy. The instructions are there. They seem incomplete but after reading them over a number of times, everything you need is there. Well, except for basic quilting skills, I used the internet for that. This is the first real quilt that I've done although I have done some quilted projects so I understood the basic concept. It turned out better than expected and I'm proud to have have on my sofa. And on my lapThis is a clever and inexpensive kit. You get the quilting fabric for the top (fat quarters) that are already color coordinated You do have to cut strips so measure twice. Or more lol. But cutting strips from fat quarters is pretty easy. You have to buy backing material and batting. Or you can use an old sheet for a light quilt or an old blanket for a heavier one.Also, I called their customer service number just before I started and believe it or not, a helpful person answered. It's nice to know people are really there to help when needed. One more thing, you could re-use these instructions and buy your own fat quarters.I should also mention-I used a southwestern fleece for the backing that I also bought here at Amazon. ,

Arrived in perfect condition. The fabric is of good quality and thickness. Colors are beautiful, rich, and varied and complement each other perfectly. Great value. Connecting threads is my go to shop for great prices. I do check their site directly though because sometimes it's cheaper to get specific lines of fat quarters, charm packs, layer cakes, etc. directly from them rather than Amazon

I have new couch set... love seat, chair and long couch. I haven't started with pictures yet. I have done curtains and coffee stables, end tables. I got this as project to do during the winter months. The colors are awesome. The solid match my couch set perfect. The blues/beige match my chair. I think I will be putting this quilt as a wall hanger. One thing I noticed yesterday when I got it and opened it was the fat squares are larger than you normally buy in a quilt shop. The material is nice. I will definitely be buying more kits. I think I will buy additional kits to make a quilt to lay on love seat. Very pleased with this project. I will be definitely ordering more.***one thing if you are a beginner and expect these pieces to be cut, please make sure you have a mat and cutter.***

One of the quilt kits is a Christmas gift for my cousin. The other 2 are for me! Love the design and colors in these kits. Very happy with my purchase!
