Good Grammar and Sloppy Text
The material on grammar is excellent and is laid out clearly. However overall the book is sloppy. The Table of Contents is a mess. From page 69 on until the end of the book (at page 204) the page numbers are off by anywhere from one to four pages! I had to correct by hand the misprinted pages in a copy of the book I gave to a friend. Also there are spelling errors.

Disappointed
It might work for elementary school kids or non- English speakers.

Educative Guide.
If you enjoy English as more than just the necessary means of communication, this book may be for you. Of course, if you’re an English professor, you may find it more entertaining than educational. All others may benefit from the entertaining journey of common mistakes. The book is clearly laid out and each instance consists of examples of incorrect usage and the explanation of the correct usage followed by a quick summary or a fun fact.

The ONLY book you need on English grammar by Melony Jacobs
Although Melony Jacobs has three books on English grammar on Amazon, this is the only one you need purchase. That's not because it's any better than the other two, but because it includes the text of the other two (and nothing else).Having covered that rather strange piece of content packaging, and turning to the text, it's actually quite helpful. The first section covers ten rules (plus a bonus rule) which are actually a tour of correct English grammar. It is concise – I read it in an afternoon – and it is accurate, with good examples of incorrect and correct structures. I am a native English speaker, so at times some of the examples seemed obvious, but they would help people learning English as a second language. It was a worthwhile read and I was pleased to find things I hadn't known before. The second half is essentially a revision of the first half, structured with lots of examples and multiple-choice questions. This could be covered very quickly by someone who grew up writing English. It will be more helpful to people who are new to English for eliminating errors that native speakers would be unlikely to make.In summary, I would recommend this book. On its own it is a good-value summary of English grammar, but there's no need to buy the other two in the series.
