No one would ever know this isn’t a real book...
I ordered this book diversion safe to use as a secure place to keep cash on hand in the house. In other words, after 30 years of use, the plug on my childhood piggy bank broke, and I decided to upgrade to something more “adultish,” but equally fun. Added bonus: my Glock will fit inside, too! Couldn’t do that with the ol’ piggy bank. But seriously, folks, let’s get down to the good, the bad, and the ugly of this item:Pros:-Solid, sturdy construction.-The book looks real. The cover looks and feels exactly how you’d expect a hardcover book to feel. When picked up or viewed from the top and side, it looks like a real book, thanks to real paper edging (see photos).-The safe itself is made of sturdy metal. The lock seems sturdy as well.-Comes with two keys.-The inside of the safe is lined with felt.-Blends in seamlessly with the rest of the thousands of books in my library...this would even blend in with books on a single book shelf (see photos...I took a picture of it along with books on two other shelves of one of my bookcases...it nails the “chameleon factor”).Cons:-It is large. If your book collection consists of dozens of small paperback novels, it will stick out as being “different” but it will still look like a book. The larger size can be a bonus though, if you’re planning to store something large inside...-If you pick it up, you can definitely tell it’s not a book...but that is to be expected. It is, after all a safe, and an excellently-made one at that.I definitely recommend this product. By looking at it, no one would be able to tell that this isn’t a real book.

My Mother, avid book reader, LOVED IT!
My mother loved this as a gift! She is an avid book reader and was just expecting a different version of Pride & Prejudice - and she was happily surprised when she opened it up! It has actually pages (or what looks and feels like pages on the side around the safe) which I think is a nice touch! She thought it was clever and this is the perfect cover for a safe for any book lover. Who doesn't love Pride & Prejudice?! The safe itself is just fine! A normal small, lock & key safe! Doesn't fit too much, but it was more about the idea and it fits just enough! Of course this product isn't suppose to replace your fireproof safe with true valuables!!

Nice quality, serves its purpose
This is a safe. It is not made like a real book. It looks like a book, but it is made of plastic. On the shelf I don't think anyone would notice the difference unless they were looking specifically for it. But it is not going to appear the same as a book if you plan to leave it on the coffee table. It has a key that locks the safe on the inside, and is the same size as a regular dictionary. My son enjoys playing with it and keeping things away from his younger siblings. But it would be useful for whatever valuables anyone wanted to store in it, provided you keep it on the shelf with other books to disguise.

Holds 160 Silver Eagles or Gun w ammo
I am using to hold eight 20 Eagle Silver coin green cap containers. (Can't fit 9 bc that's where the lock protrudes into the book.) Holds 160 Silver Eagles per book. This is a temporary solution until I find space for a safe. If one fills it with that many silver eagles it's very heavy and I would caution to hold the book with two hands or the weight of the silver might pull the book apart. Otherwise it's a perfect solution for me and a very lovely looking book. The comments about it easily being broken into are ridiculous as a thief would just carry the book out with them! The idea is that it will look like a book on a shelf and no one will suspect that it carries anything of value inside! If someone is worried about that kind of theif they should get a safe bolted to the ground and fireproof. If worried about a child, babysitter, cleaning person, etc getting into it, the best thing to do is to use the key and lock it up. Since I have no concerns there, I could keep it unlocked. However, the silver is heavy and, if the box is unlocked, will fall out of the book is picked up w one hand. This is not a fault of the book or the safe, it's just the nature of the weight of the silver. So that's why I lock it... To hold the items inThe size of the safe is great. It will hold a revolver or a Ruger w some ammo to keep it out of little hands. Perfect solution for most any hand gun. Could be used on a night table, end table, or even in a car to conceal a gun.

AWESOME!!! Good Size and Does the Job
AWESOME: I think these books are fantastic. I would definitely buy them for hiding small valuables. Before my purchase, I read several complaints about the books not looking real - or the pages not looking real, and that once you open the flap, you can see it is a safe. My guess is that most folks are not going to leave these lying around on a desk. If you look in the pictures at them on the shelf, you absolutely cannot tell they are not real books. They are positioned on the bottom row and then there is a close up of the row with the four right next to each other. There was also criticism about the locks. I don't even use the locks. If a thief is into books, takes this off the shelf, sees that it is a safe - regardless of there being a lock, the book won't be there when you get back.COMPARISON OF SEVERAL BOOKS: I bought four of these hidden book "safes." I bought different ones because it seemed there was no sense in having four of the same book on my shelf. So what I have done is laid them out next to each other so that you can see the difference. While they are all comparatively the same in length and width, the Paris book is definitely deeper. This book and the Paris book both have felt lining. The lining is not high quality, and it does not stick to the metal finish well BUT it is functional and I would use one of these books for something that you may not want to get scratched. One benefit I found with all the books is that even though they are similar in size, each book is a different size from the other from the outside, making them look more like real books on the shelf.
