Perfect fit replacement
Perfect fit replacement part. Used on a Hayward Pro-grid DE 60 filter. Important to align the little tab on the valve stem/plate portion with the housing when installing. If that isn't lined up, the valve can still be tightened closed with the ring, but will damage the valve stem assembly, possibly beyond repair, and obviously leak like crazy. Pay attention to that one fitment, and this is an easy replacement. Check the valve stem gaskets for proper lubrication with pool lube and you should have no problem. I don't consider tiny droplet leaks over the span of a few minutes a leak or a defect. Hand tight on the ring means pretty much that. You can snug it up a bit but any more and you risk making things worse, not better. Depressurize the system, pull the valve, check for contamination in the threads and such, then reinstall. That has been my experience, your mileage may vary.

Quality does count!
Hayward brand products have always been consistent in quality, this slide valve assembly is no exception! Strength in the construction and attention to additional bracing at pressure points lead to an overall quality product

Easy Switchout
I broke the body of my valve during maintenance and had to replace the entire unit. Amazon was much cheaper than Pool Supply store if your doing the install yourself. It does come with the 90 degree part for the backwash side even though it is not pictured. Easy to install took about 10 minutes to switch the valve out with no tools. 2 inch PVC fits very snug and needed some strength to get it to seat. Just remember to be careful with the glue and remove the valve assembly when gluing the piping to the body of the valve. Operates smoothly and no leaks.

!!BEWARE WILL CORRODE!! READ FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON A HACK FIX IF YOURS LEAKS
!! HOW TO FIX AND STILL USE A LEAKING/CORRODED VALVE FOR NORMAL AND BACKWASH !!-----------------------------As you can see in the pictures, I came up with a hack to still use this valve after it corroded and started leaking. First step is to prevent it from leaking during normal operation. Using hot glue (strongest you can find), put down a thin bead around where the handle meets the top, as well as at the top where the two small holes are. Allow that to harden (need to do this to get a good base to prevent it from coming off), and then add another layer, and another, until you're satisfied and think it's good enough to prevent leaks.Next in order to perform a backwash you're going to need to come up with a way to prevent the valve from pushing up and out when in backwash position. Rummaging through what I had in my garage I found the cap you can see in the pictures (funny enough made by a Pentair company). This fits perfectly inside the cap that screws on to the top of the valve (needs to be right about 2 5/8 - 2 3/4 diameter). Using a dremel and/or sawzall, cut out a small slit a little smaller than 1/2 inch (the size of the corroded shaft). When you're ready to backwash the filter, pull out the entire valve shaft, slide the top piece that screws onto the top of the valve (to hold the shaft in), and then slide it up from the bottom of the shaft. Insert the cap you just made over the corroded shaft, and then screw down the piece that holds the shaft in the valve. Backwash, and voila! Profit! No more wasting money on crap products (which they probably make in crap quality so you have to buy a new one!).Feel free to comment on here if you have any questions ... hopefully this helps out someone else who has this problem to not waste any more money on hayward or have to replumb for a new valve! Good luck!Specific part I used was:Hoffman (Pentair) 59760 Type 4, 3R, 12, 13 HOLE SEALIt was probably left over from when I was an electrician, these parts are used to seal the top of electrical panels if they are not receiving an overhead service (meaning feed comes from underground)This is the closest match I found on Amazon: Hole Seal, 3.00 In Hole dia., Carbon Steel ORIGINAL REVIEW:----------------------------BEWARE ... shaft will rust and start to leak after only a month or two!!! ... I've had two replacement already and after a month, the shaft has rusted and started to leak again. problem is due to water passing over cheaply made shaft when in normal operation, you've been warned!

Perfect fit
Fits perfectly into the old Hayward DE filter. Do not use the 90° ABS elbow it comes with. Broke first time I installed it. Used two 90° PVC elbows

Back wash no longer leaking
Got this because my old spider backwash valve cracked and was leaking for the longest time. My pool guy recommended getting this backwash valve cause it's easy to use. Just unlock and pull up. Had the pool guy install it and so far is working fine. Will update my review and anything changes.

Perfect fit, smooth & easy operation. Painless install.
It's a perfect fit for the Hayward filter I just purchased here on Amazon. It's easy to install, smooth and extremely easy operation. I'm happy with this valve.PLEASE NOTE: If you appreciated this review please give it a “thumbs up/like” your helping me to continue to give honest/unbiased insight into products I’ve used and you may have questions about. Interested in a product but don't know enough about it and would like it reviewed? Please let me know and I'll see what I can do... Thank you 🙏

Direct replacement
Worked fine. These units are all basically crap, but so is the original one. The design must be 50 years old. It works, but its no engineering marvel, and rubber gaskets the technology of that era. If your valve breaks this is a drop in.
