Making Maps: A Visual Guide to Map Design for GIS

Might make a good casual coffee table book but misses the mark as a textbook
The layout of this book makes it hard to read and easy to miss important data. From the text location and sizing, it feels like most of the book is made up of sections of picture captions and missing main body text. Many images were enlarged past their resolution, making them grainy/fuzzy/pixelated and giving a very unprofessional appearance. Textbook could have benefited greatly if a glossary had been included, as trying to re-find terms in the book is very tedious because of the book's layout and typography (if you buy this book, make sure to write out the terms in a separate notebook as you encounter them- this book is NOT a good study aid before a test). The actual material presented is ok and written in a fairly clear/concise way, but the presentation fails its readers.

Take a pass on this one.
This book must have been laid out by a high school graphic arts class. Jumbled text, images and lots of white space. It is hard to determine where chapters begin and what text is pertinent. There seems to be a background political agenda as well. I would not have chosen this book if given a chance to review it before purchase.

A waste of money
Had to buy this for a university class and didn’t use it once. Does not show any software or features whatsoever and covers more of the theory. I would not recommend this book.

Arrived highly marked up.
I get it, used an all- but wtf there were more notes in here than original text!
