Gardening and Farming small scale
I love the concept behind this book with regard to making life in the garden an integrated ecosystem in your back yard or property. I have a smaller back yard without fencing and the ability to create a farm but my small gardens attract bees, butterflies, birds, racer snakes, geckos, and worms. It’s a mini ecosystem. This wonderful book gives me more specific ways to expand the gardens’ usefulness in feeding and sheltering animals that will, in turn, help my garden stay healthy without harsh chemicals or pesticides. If you have property that you want to grow plants on and raise animals on, this is the book for you. Photos and sketches are here within this book.

Clear, concise, easy to understand and follow
While it could go a bit deeper, it is a well written book that clearly communicates its subject in away that is well done. In a later update with a bit more added detail and supporting material, I'm sure that I would bump my review to five stars. But it is a strong four star effort, one I enjoyed reading.

Preachy
There's some good information in there, but the author is very preachy about her values, to the point where it took me out of the book. The author doesn't seem to understand their audience. Not many people interested in permaculture need to be convinced on the unsustainability of modern agricultural practices or the need to be harmony with our ecosystem. If you are looking for a book on permaculture, don't waste your time on this one.

Permaculture 101
When I first heard about permaculture, I felt intimidated. I do NOT have a green thumb and I am not an avid gardener. I initially thought I like the idea of permaculture, but I had a lot of misconceptions that intimidated me. However, this book knocked out all of the misconceptions I had and really made me feel empowered to be able to play a role in the permaculture philosophy. I feel like a new person - at least someone with a new mindset on how to live moving forward. I feel like I can help make a difference in my community and more importantly in shaping my children's world. Thank you so much for this book, which very simply presents an amazing concept and makes it appealing for someone who is not fully in touch with nature like me.
