Easy for beginners.
This is a wonderful book for beginners.I took 2 semesters of piano in college, and am now 54, so a lot of this is review for me. The review is exactly what I need, and I am already learning some new things I did not know. The videos that go along with the lessons are easy to follow along. I look forward to finishing this book and buying the 2nd one.

Impressive!
I've had a Yamaha keyboard gathering dust for the last six years, which I purchased in my late seventies. I had the urge at the time to teach myself to play the piano, but after trying for a while gave up. Recently, I came across YOUR GOLDEN EARS, and my interest was rekindled, thanks to the simplicity of the lessons and the accompanying videos. At this for a week now, I am greatly enjoying the process. It's clear and interesting. And I'm having fun.

Just easy to learn.
This book is excellent. Onky minor problem is hard to open the book on my piano sheet holder. Better to a link to poen fully.

Well crafted, made for beginners without sacrificing complexity
I'm still working through it, but this is a fantastic resource so far. A lot of lessons for beginners are very simple and don't really get you much further past the starting point. This book really does start from the beginning (pros and cons of picking a keyboard versus a piano) and gets you playing multiple songs by the end, but it teaches you so much in between to set you up to better understand the instrument, reading and playing music, and music in general. The lessons are split up nicely and encourage healthy learning habits. Steps are laid out very clearly, and there's stories about composers to help break things up and give you more appreciation for the music that you're playing. One of the things that games does well is teaching you something simple, using repetition to solidify it, and then bringing that concept back as part of a larger concept to make something complicated easier to learn. With the author's background in music education and gaming, I think this book uses an ideal approach to help the reader learn. It's well made and the price is quite generous, it's an easy buy in my opinion.

Excellent resource for newcomers
This instructional book is a very well written and compiled set of lessons for the beginner. It starts at the beginning with helping you to choose a piano or keyboard, and builds your knowledge day-by-day with easy to follow exercises and theory concepts. No assumptions are made which is very appreciated. Although written with the adult learner in mind, I've found that I can also go through the lessons with my 7 year old, especially with the follow-along videos that are located on the Music Mouse Studios website. One of the other neat aspects of the books are the tidbits of musical history and background information that are injected in between lessons. They're a nice break every once in a while to get more context into the lessons and instrument being learned.Overall I'd highly recommend these lessons if you're looking to go the self-learning route. Tons of content that will guide you. Volume 1 itself has 120 days worth of lessons that you can take at your own pace!

Please Free My Hands
As an Adult Beginner, I find that the content, strategies, instructor’s pace, style and voice are all major factors that contribute to the joy I am experiencing with my new piano. The Lessons are accompanied by YouTube videos that reinforce my grasp of the material. If I encounter a particularly challenging concept, I can pause and replay the video as many times as I need to. I really like the instructor’s thoughtfulness in that the videos are short and titled to match the textbook identifications, that makes it super easy to find the video you need. The only regret that I have concerns the way the textbook is bound together. It would have been more useful if the pages were spiral-bound or bound to lay flat. As with the current regular textbook binding, I must hold the pages down with one hand while trying to play the notes with the other hand. The book will close up or fall off of the book ledge down onto the keys or into my lap. At some point, I won’t have enough hands to hold the book and play the piano!! Since I have already purchased Vol 2, I will most likely return it for a textbook that is more practical for upright or flat positioning. I encourage the author to correct this flaw in her otherwise container of outstanding content.

Very helpful for adult learner
This book is much better than the first I bought. I played the clarinet in high school so learned how to read music, but that was so long ago I really needed the basics again, and specifically piano basics. I like the short videos available for most lessons. I will say that I've only had the book for 5 days and am already on Day 65 since my other book got me started, but I would highly recommend this for true beginners of any age. I will likely buy the 2nd book as well.

Fantastic learning tool!
This book is just what I needed as an over 50 adult learning how to read notes and play piano for the first time. The author makes each lesson easy to understand without talking down to the reader as if he/she was a child. The videos that accompany each lesson online were super informative and helpful. I can’t wait to get Volume 2!

A traditional approach to learning the piano , modern adult learning style!
I am more in my silver ears than golden but clearly learning something new like the piano has proven more challenging for my brain than anticipated. I have been taking lessons but so far the theoretical parts, sight reading / playing coordination, and even taking the time in the mist of work life has be more challenging than anticipated. Instead of giving up I endeavored to find a companion tool to facilitate my journey in structuring in a more manageable manner and this has worked very well for me. So thank you for a book that is easily adapted to one’s pace, for it’s traditional approach to music / piano fundamentals, while embracing modern adult learning. Far more gratifying than many beginner’s options out there.

Excellent livre
Complet car il traite en parallèle théorie musicale et pratique au piano. De plus il est clair et très progressif et agrémenté de vidéos sur internet. Quoi de mieux pour démarrer le piano.

A great starting point for your journey towards becoming a piano player.
I was pleased when I recently received this book as a gift. It is comprehensive, well presented, and, obvious to me, the author's labour of love. I should emphasise that the course of lessons it contains are most definitely aimed at the absolute beginner. In other words this first book, volume one of a two book series, is designed for a person that has no prior experience of either playing the piano or sight reading music. If this exactly describes you then it might be perfect for you. I should point out that this does not best describe me, as I received my copy when I had already been learning to play the piano for almost a year. Plus I have been able sight read music for quite a while longer. That said, because I'm a relatively recent beginner, I think I'm still well placed to recommend this book for absolute beginners because of my personal learning experiences. Even though I'm not an absolute beginner, I can still say that I have enjoyed reading through this book, from beginning to end and sampling the lessons. Having done so, I might additionally say that I wish I'd received my copy earlier. It has provided me with a useful resourse for revision. That's because it has been compiled as a one stop shop, stock piled high, with just about everything I've previously learned but from a multitude of sources. If you are an absolute beginner, then in my opinion this book will provide you with a structured course that will enable you to make good progress rapidly; at the starting point of your journey towards becoming a piano player.

A comprehensive step by step journey for the adult piano learner
Love this book as an adult learner! A comprehensive companion which takes the learner through a methodical approach on how to play and enjoy the piano. I like the fact that each lesson is bite size and has its corresponding video to enable the learner to see and hear the exercises. It's perfect for a beginner like me. I have Vol 1 and 2 and can't wait to dive it to each prescribed exercise. Highly recommended!
