Useful For So Many Reasons
I do a lot of cooking and baking, and because my kitchen is ultra-tiny, it's all done in one small square of countertop. I recently got new granite countertops and I've been worried that the one spot would begin to show wear from over-use compared to the rest of the counter. So I was delighted to find this simple, black silicone mat. From a distance it blends in so well that you can hardly distinguish it from the rest of the counter. It was a little too long for my space, but no problem. I just cut it to the size I needed. Anyone who bakes a lot knows how messy it is. Flour and sugar flies everywhere, and once it gets a little wet it sticks to the counter, creating a huge cleanup job. With this mat in place, I save so much cleanup time. Most of the debris lands on the mat, so all I have to do is rinse it in the sink, hang it over the oven door bar, and voila! The job is done. I could've left about 4 more inches more length, because I find I do have to wipe down the counter at the far end. But then it would be more cumbersome to rinse in the sink. For food prep, I put my cutting board on top and let the mat hold all the leavings, then just pick it up and dump it all in the bin at once. You can also put hot pans on it to prevent heat damage to your countertops. I am so happy with this simple, useful addition to my kitchen. Highly recommend!

Nice idea but somewhat impractical
Pros:-Large mat that covers a wide countertop-Heat resistant and does not damage counter below-Lays flat almost immediately without any curling on the siliconeCons:-Because of the size, it can be a bit cumbersome to wash, dry, and roll back up.-Because the material is so soft its hard to do anything on the mat without the whole thing moving

Cut to fit silicone mat - Protects the tops of small appliances
I have a countertop convection/toaster oven that has multiple racks and baking pans. I was looking for a silicone mat to put on top of the oven to hold the extra baking pans when they were not being used for cooking. This roll of silicone is perfect for my needs! It’s very flexible and easy to cut to the perfect size. I had enough left to make a topper for my microwave. The mats are easy to clean and are not effected by the heat of the oven. However, dog hair tends to cling to it like other silicon mats that I have. I just use a sponge or sticky-backed clothes roller to keep it clean. I was impressed by the packaging; the mat arrived wrapped in plastic and in a nice box. However, when I unrolled it, I found a small hair tie near the end of the roll. Could it be for storing the rolled mat? Very unlikely…I wasn’t too upset by finding a hair tie because the mat was so clean, no dust, no hair, no lint or dirt on it, whatsoever. The manufacturer wants the purchaser to be happy and even includes instructions for use and a thank you note in the box. If you want a custom fit silicone mat, purchasing the silicone mat roll is the way to go!

Especially great for crafters and kids!
Why would anybody need a big long piece of silicone mat you may be asking? I know I thought this at first when I first saw it, but then I thought of my kids’ messy craft projects, messy paintings and drawings, and even gingerbread house building. I remember those soggy soaked through newspapers I tried to line the counters and tables with whenever they did these projects, and I also remember giving them little plastic trays to do their projects on, and the complaints of not enough room, or that they were too constricted within the tray. This mat turned from a question mark to a must have! What a wonderful thing that most are not aware of even existing, now I wish I had it sooner. This fits across my center island perfectly and my kids can do their crafts on it freely. So easy to wipe up and clean and then roll up for storage. Dries up quickly and easily as well, after being wiped. This is great for people who craft a lot, for kids that craft a lot, for kids that like to paint and draw and play Play-Doh a lot. This can also be put across the dining table at mealtime to put the food on without worrying about your table getting dirty or stained. So many uses for this unassuming silicone mat. Something you never thought you needed but once you have it, you’ll wish you had it sooner.

countertop saver!
I am using this as a countertop saver for times that I am crafting and painting - - to keep glue, solvents, clay, ink and other things from permanently damaging my white countertops. It has totally saved the day. I can spread everything out and work without worry. And there is some cushioning aspect to it as well. So I have contemplated ordering another one for use under my pottery wheel to absorb some of the vibration. It is also heat resistant, so I can use my hot glue gun without worrying that I'll damage anything or start something on fire. It has been so useful for all of my purposes and I could see it being absolutely invaluable as a kitchen tool as well - for under an air fryer or on the counter under cutting boards etc. Anyway, I quite like it and recommend it if you are looking for a silicone pad for cushioning, heat resistance and/or protecting your surfaces from solvents etc.

Works well on the counter
I find that the silicone cover is great on my side counter to both protect the surface and give me a easy prep surface. The ease in cleaning is the biggest factor here for me. The mat laid flat as soon as I rolled it out and there is no funky smell to it.

Works but…
So this looks pretty good when on your counter. It’s useful to protect your countertop from a hot pot or scratches from appliances. It cleans really easily. I originally cut mine as I wanted to use it on two cupboards. But it looks horrible when cut and it’s not long enough to cover two counters. So I put both pieces on the same counter and since it’s cut, it doesn’t look that great. So I would advise against cutting it.
