I ordered this desktop omnidirectional scanner by Tera to aid in the "automation" of my inventory handling. I currently have a handheld scanner and it is increasingly cumbersome. It is so much easier and quicker just waving the item in front of the scanner instead of needing to pick up the handheld. With this sdesktop scanner I expect to be able to process inventory changes and additions much faster and efficiently. So this thing is asleep, and detects motion from like 10ft away. Haven't come across a barcode or can't scan. It even scanned barcodes on a phones screen. This helps a lot as it just sits on a desk and customers can just hold their ID picture on their phone and scan in. Employee doesn't have to use the gun scanner anymore.

I am too confused about the instructions. Not helpful as I have no experience with these type of things. I regret getting this.

I got this for our store specifically because it looks like Hal 9000. Someone already printed a label that reads, “I can’t let you do that, Dave.” and put it on the bottom of the scanner.It works great and the employees are happy to not have to key in the item #s.No issues connecting or scanning. We just plugged it in and it works as expected. Hopefully it doesn’t take over the store. I’ll keep everyone posted.

The media could not be loaded.  When you need a reliable, capable desktop scanner for barcodes or QR, this should fit your needs.As soon as you open it, it's ready to go. No driver installs, no utilities . . . just lightning-fast scanning.So fast, in fact, that it may be tough to catch that the circumference of the lens flashes green to confirm the scan.Users should note that it's basically a keyboard to the computer . . . as a peripheral, it populates the text characters belonging to the code it's scanning.As for the instruction manual, it is mainly QR codes! You can reset it to factory spec, or customize the types of codes and any leading character blanking you may want. But don't expect much else: it's a very spartan booklet, and nothing else appears on the manufacturer's website. You're on your own.Like I mention, though, it's already a bulletproof, nearly instantaneous scanner, so just put it to work and don't fret over these minor details.

The Tera barcode scanner is a no-brainer if you need POS-based or warehouse / material sheet scanning. The unit is substantial, sturdy, and scans quite well. Bright red scanning LEDs, a green ring LED (success) and (customizable/mutable) beeps all provide instant, accurate feedback. Handled every 2D & QR code I tested.It includes an instructional guide going over all the settings, which you can change... simply by scanning a bar code! Nice touch.

I wanted to join the trend of scanning my books into my library system. This is a perfect size for what I need.

It was easy to convert to my system it set up easily and it works great, it scans everything with ease and I have had zero issues with it, it was an amazing value and I highly recommend 5 stars
