A GOOD BOOK FOR BEGINNERS NEW TO DSLR PHOTOGRAPHY - MATERIAL PRESENTED IN A FUN TO READ FORMAT!
Books on photography are often a boring maze of F-Stops, Appeture sizes and shutter speeds. I have read many books for folks like me new to Digital Photography. I am a computer nerd so I did not need to learn how to move my pictures from camera to computer for post production editing. However the introduction to the mechanisms needed to control how the little sensor experiences the light needed to capture a great picture was something I needed to learn. This book explained the TRIAD of appeture, shutter speed and ISO to a degree that I finally understood it as an equation. Each part of the photographers triad unleashes certain effects that if accessed correctlymake for great pictures. But like any equation the photography triad carries with it certain demons if shutter, appiture or ISO is pushed too far. This is NOT an exhaustive book that will make you a master photographer overnight. The book encourages new photographers to venture beyond the confines of AF = Auto Focus and play with the settings. The book is very liberating as it tells new photographers go out risk making mistakes as you learn the limits and trade offs imposed by appeture, iso and shutter speed in various environments. Photography should be fun because; you use your imagination to create the shot. Sure the world is filled with many things most of them mundane and ordinary. However your camera can use light, angle shade, contrast, saturation, exposure and more to redine the world as we know it.Photography allows us to employ the camera to reshape our perceptions of the simplest things. A door lock for example is something we see every day. However with a macro lens, the right exposure and some creative angles or lighting a simple lock can take on a whole new life as art. I am still a new wet behind the ears picture taker, I am not anywhere near good enough yet to call myself a photographer. I'm barely past the all auto focus all the time stage. The author of DSLR Photography for Beginners LOVES photography and wants to infect this readers with the joy that comes from engaging in the photographic arts as a hobby or an eventual profession. The writer of DSLR Photography for Beginners is more than just a photography book for beginners that outline the parts of the camera and what they do. DSLR Photography for Beginners shares the joy of taking pictures. The author of DSLR Photography for Beginners loves photography and it shows in the passionate way he teaches the subject in this book I'm a computer analyst and I LOVE computers. I still get that Christmas morning joy just starting up a new computer and getting it ready for its tasks. This Brain Black guy who wrote DSLR Photography for Beginners loves photography and for him taking pictures is like Christmas morning joy for him. I learn best from people who LOVE WHAT THEY TEACH WITH A PASSION! I read many Kindle books about photography and they were all informative. It took reading DSLR Photography for Beginnersto make me find the passion to start experimenting with my camera settings, going out and capturing images with almost child like reckless abandon. Heck many of my shots were terrible but a few shots were really awesome well composed and well lit. Best of all I enjoyed creating my pictures even the bad ones. Rather than delet my bad pictures I am keeping them so when I am finally good I can see how far I've come.DSLR Photography for Beginners does more than just teach you about your DSLR it awakens the passion of photography in you if you let it and for $3.99 thats a small price to pay for such a heaping helping of artistic joy!

Camera Photography Ideas
I admit that I was indirectly influenced to eventually look into this kindlebook DSLR Photography For Beginners by Brian Black less than 8 weeks ago when I discovered some online messages related to one of my online photo accounts that storage changes are going to be made by a particular timeframe as to how photos are stored and I was preferring to look into multiple options and ideas for further knowledge and application pertaining to both archiving, taking, andor storing photos for both present and future memories. Some of the details included in this kindlebook: shutter speed references involving pictures of two different fast trains, specialized lenses and buying lenses, a photo taken with wide angle lens, a rose photo taken using multiple focal points, downloading and storing photos, and more.

Well Written, Organized, and Easy to Follow
I am a social media manager for a small college in the South, and part of my job entails taking photographs all over campus—inside, outside, in sunshine, in dark rooms—and sometimes it is quite a challenge to get the pictures looking just right! When I noticed Brian Black’s book, “DSLR Photography for Beginners,” offering better pictures in 3 days, it seemed the perfect solution to my camera challenges. As my DSLR camera has a lot of settings, and I am not a technical genius, I appreciate that Black quickly focused on what really matters, which is taking beautiful photographs. “DSLR Photography for Beginners” includes sections on aperture, shutter speed, lenses, and filters. After finishing his book, I am now knowledgeable about when to use a wide-angle zoom lens versus a telephoto zoom lens, and the differences between a polarizing filter, a neutral density filter, and an ultraviolet filter. I particularly liked that Black included examples what a photograph might look like using each specific lens and filter.Black’s book contains a chapter on lighting, which was very helpful to me, as I often photograph sporting events or activities outdoors. My favorite chapter, though, was on framing. In it, Black discusses centering objects in a photo, what to include at the edges, as well as choosing the angle of a shot. Also helpful is his advice on video photography and the use of graphic design software—Adobe Photoshop, CorelDraw, and GIMP.Black’s book is well written, organized, and easy to follow. It is also well laid out, with bullet points to underscore important points and photographs throughout to back up each topic he discusses. I plan to share it with my fifteen year old who is active in his high school photography club. Black clearly loves his profession and is enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge with fledgling photographers. Highly recommend.

Great refresher course
This is a very swift and comprehensive introduction to photography. I have not been serious about photography for many years but this quick read brought back all the essentials. Well done!

Logical, clear guide to get you moving
Just the right level of “keep it simple”, balanced against “enough detail to be useful”. Well written, covering topics in a logical manner, with great explanations on how the various aspects interact with one another. The relationship between exposure, shutter speed, and ISO values is nicely handled.Only reason for not giving five stars is that it could use a few more example photos, and diagrams to fully enforce some of the concepts covered in the text. For the money this is a fantastic introduction, and fully recommended.
