Liked it.To use this dipstick. The same way Dodge made it To be used. YouHave to know what the transmissionFluid temperature is. Some Dodge vehicles can display the transmissionFluid temperature on the in vehicleScreen. If not, you need a scanner that can read the transmission temperature. My journey can display the trans fluidTemp. The dipstick has mm markings on it.No low or full marks like old trans fluid dipsticks did. This dipstick is bent to prevent you from shoving it in to far.It only goes in around a 1/4 of the dipstick. Most of the dipstick sticks out. Do not force it!!!It is only to check the fluid. Then remove it.This is better than the eBay knockOffs. Because it is bent to stop youFrom going in to far.Know this info and if it will work for you. Buy it.

Works
Got this to check the level of fluid in the CVT on my wife's '08 Dodge Caliber RT. It worked as it should. I had the transmission fluid changed by my shop and of course they didn't do it right so when we went to take it on a trip the trans temp light came on and it started throttling the car's speed. I figured the tranny had either too much or too little fluid and sure enough, at least the best I could tell, there is 100mm of fluid when it should be about 32-45mm. They most likely dropped the pan but didn't flush out the rest of the system and then added all the fluid I gave them because they obviously have no idea how to do a CVT. Dipstick was good. Charts and info came with it and for the price, good deal.

Decent for certain uses
I had a real tough time getting this to bottom out, had to cut off the fluid measuring part of this dipstick. It wouldn't go beyond a certain point with the metal knobby parts on it. There is a great review here that references this issue. My only goal was to see the color of my transmission fluid because I recently noticed a distinct burning smell while doing some "spirited" driving. The dealer wanted to charge me $50 plus tax to simply check the fluid. I immediately bought this instead.Sure enough, my fluid was brown, but not burnt. Had the fluid/filter changed and everything is fine several thousand miles later. This dipstick saved me a very costly transmission repair, but it may be harder to use for some versions of the NAG1 automatic trans, as mentioned by another reviewer. But your mileage may vary; the dipstick is well made and very long, not meant to be left inside the fill tube!

Could be better
This is a great dipstick for most NAG1 transmissions. There is one flaw though, the metal tip will not fit easily to the bottom of the transmission pan depending on which trans you have.If you have a Chrysler assembled 722.6/NAG1/W5A580, with the conductor plate with the white top (Dorman 917-678, 1402701261, 52108308AC, 68021352AA ) this dipstick works well. The opening in the conductor plate is large and easily allows the somewhat large metal tip to pass through. If you have the Mercedes Benz built 722.6 (W5J400, etc) that uses the conductor plate with a black top (Dorman 917-679, 1402701161, 2035400253, 68049181AA ) this dip stick does not fit well through the plate to the bottom of the pan. The dipstick opening on this conductor plate is smaller and round. The dipstick tip does fit in the hole, but not really well when the dipstick approaches the opening at a slight angle. To remedy the situation, i took a sanding wheel to the tip to make it smaller and with a slight chamfer. It fits now, but i will probably grind it down a tad more to make sure i get correct readings by getting to the bottom of the pan.And ignore all the negative reviews stating the dipstick is too long. Its supposed to be that long and is NOT supposed to be left in the car.

The right tool for the job if you know how to do the job
I'm a Chrysler/jeep/dodge master tech and id say its as good as the miller tool that Chrysler supplies the dealership. For all the reviews that say the length was not right those people do not have a clue what they're talking about. This is intended for chrysler vehicles that do not have a dip stick, just a cap on the dipstick tube that says "dealer use only". You need a scan tool to measure trans fluid temp and a graph from service information specific to that vehicle that shows what the level should be max to minimum depending on the fluid temp. So you check the fluid temp with a scan tool, check the min-max range for that temp on the graph, then bottom out the dipstick into the dipstick tube till it hits the bottom of the trans pan. The stick shows the fluid level in centimeters and you compare youre fluid level reading in CM to the graph and the indicated fluid temp. So its the right tool for the job in the right hands but its a universal dipstick that alone cannot verify the correct fluid level without knowing the trans fluid temp and having access to the correct fill graph for the vehicle in question.

Important accessory
Very handy for checking transmission fluid level. With the newer cars, there is no way to check it. This tool comes in handy.

This is the tool you need if your transmission didn't come with a dip stick
This is the tool you need if your vehicle did not come with a transmission dip stick. Be aware that it does not have markings that tell you if your transmission fluid is within range or not. It has depth markings that tell you the depth of the fluid in your transmission pan. You need to know what transmission you have and then you need to look at the table to determine what the depth should be for your transmission. They tell you that you need to measure the temperature of the transmission fluid. As an approximation, you can drive your vehicle around for a little while and then read the depth and check it against the "hot" transmission reading. I used this on my Dodge Nitro to check the fluid level after changing the fluid. Worked great. Hardest part was figuring out what transmission I had.

Works with usage tips...
Purchased for 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan - that does lots of heavy weight towing. I wanted this tool to check transmission level myself but more importantly, check the color / colour of its ATF fluid after hard trailer pulls. If color / colour looks brownish or smells burnt, then into the auto shop for immediate ATF change. A must have tool if doing lots of towing and/or located in steep hills region - than can burn ATF fluid in the background. Especially if fighting strong head winds at same time. For me, I couldn't read its provide charts & tip numbers very well. Sorry, provided instructions are way too complex. Especially for simple folks like me. For this tool, I simply used it the 1st time "cold" on flat ground, wiped ATF fluid sample off its tip, marked the dipstick tip via hit the steel number band with a centre punch point. Thus, permanent mark (dot) where Cold Fluid Level should be. I also wrote its Cold Level reading number down as well (as backup). As other folks mentioned, don't leave the long dipstick in the filler tube. This tool is only used to check level, extract small sample (to check if fluid is burnt), remove this dip stick, then re-install factory cap back on. I'd give it 5 stars if its provided instructions (chart) and tip's reading numbers was designed better. Again... Need simple instructions with a simple tool like this.... But it does work...
