stopped one deer from eating the Hostas. Very good
Kept this one deer from the Hostas. Very goodI ordered this instead of a cheaper spray (ānot in stock but on the wayā) because this item was supposed to be delivered in a day or two. This was ordered the same or soon after the deer first got at this seasonās Hosta leaves. The deer would arrive daily for the early evening meal of Hosta leaves, leaving an ever enlarging patch of weedy-looking stalks. It would eat a bit each evening. Problem is, the spray, which you must hook a hose up to, arrived late, after about week or so after ordering. By then, nearly all of the leaves were eaten, with very few of the larger leaves remaining. I could have saved many more. For the positive, it really kept the deer away once I got it, Of course due to the lateness of delivery, there was not too much left to protect but I could tell the deer avoided those little plants completely. The smaller leaves, and the few large ones remaining, didā nt seem to have been touched after spraying although itās been over a month and itās past time to reapply. The deer had left the plants alone completely. However, I saw it out there staring at me, easily within range of being captured for dinner myself. Iām a more humane person though. Plus it was hobbling a bit for one reason or another. That one would do that, stare me down to see if I would let it eat the Hostas. I know because later I would return and Iād see more stalks and less foliage. As a stop gap measure for that moment, because I knew it was past time to spray , and knew this deerās modus, I got the bottle and sprinkled a few splashes out, loosening the top and letting some dribble out over the plants. It possible that because the deer saw me, staring at me as it was, that it may have gotten wise and had a few nibbles on what was left. Either that or the saturation was not a great as when sprayed according to the instructions. In spite of all this, I would highly recommend this item. Itās nearly odorless and safe although they advise not to use on food plants. The deer never quite got to finish each plant off. I know Hostas are their one of their favorites and this keeps them away completely. I would not let them see you putting it one the plants, though. One concern is, that there are some thick particulates that may makes the repellant difficult to spray out. It backs up so it seems the bottle is full of repellant, to overflowing, overpressure and seems to stay full like I sprayed none out at all (although it still sprays). I donāt know if this is normal or not. Maybe its due to the particulates, one of the ingredients that solidified, that increased the spray pressure (probably).I really wish I could have gotten this sooner. You might want to get this early.

So far so good (three weeks)
The media could not be loaded. Ā The bottle contains 32 oz of the concentrate solution. The instructions call for 1 part concentrate to 9 parts water. The mixed solution has a pleasant (to me) cinnamon odor, but it seems to keep critters away. I use Chapin 2000 Garden Sprayer to spread the mixture, and the solution works well without gumming up the sprayer.I have a problem with rabbits, deers, and groundhogs eating the flowers just as they about to open. After applying Deer B Gone for the first time in several years I am able to enjoy the flowers in the spring. The instructions say to apply every 30 days or if you see new nibbles. To be safe I have been applying once a week for the last three weeks.Be aware that this spray should not be used on edible plants or vegetables according to the instructions. It is only for decorative plants.Update on June 12. 2020: it has now been two months since I began spraying. I never had so many (uneaten) flowers! Deers were observed walking by this week looking at the flower bed with disdain.Update June 30, 2020: A baby deer was observed near the flowers. I saw that he bit into the flowers and then spit them out - the chopped off flower was laying right next to where it was growing. Hopefully, he learned for the future that this restaurant serves really bad food!Ali Julia review

A good effective product
I have purchased this several times from Amazon and overall it is a good product. As for effectiveness, no complaints, 5 stars. Even azaleas are not bothered after being sprayed, which are on the "A" list as far as deer are concerned. I also use it on Japanese Holly, which unlike most hollies, the deer are fond of. I treat Japanese Gold Dust plant and Rhododendron which are more on the "C" list but the deer go after them when things get tough in the winter. As for safety and environmental, no problems. This product used to not carry an EPA signal word on the label, but I noticed that in now carries a caution label. It leaves to me a very pleasant smell in the yard from the clove and cinnamon oil. I consider the product very safe to apply and would give it 5 stars here. The only issue I have with Deer B Gon is spray-ability. I use a Lesco Model 032573 1 gallon sprayer with no screens. The dilution rate is 9 parts water to 1 part concentrate. The spray mix is applied as a coarse spray. The problem arises from the putrescent white egg solids which apparently stick together enough sometimes to occasionally block the spray nozzle. I usually apply a gallon at a time and I have to open up the nozzle enough to "blow through" the obstructing particles several times with each application. This is not a huge issue but I can only give a marginal pass or 2 stars on spray-ability. Otherwise I would would have rated Deer B Gon 5 stars. I will continue to use it. I worked in the ag-chem business for 30 years and spent several years doing spray tests and writing up reports on the results so doing this review is like old times!
