A collection of great knowledge
Required reading for my college genetics class.By no means an entertaining read, but man, is it packed with information

Shouldn't school books be accurate?!?!
I guess I can give it a break because it's only a 2nd edition but there are SOOOI many mistakes in the homework problems it's incredibly frustrating to try and learn such a difficult subject when at least one problem per chapter is answered wrong in the solutions manual. At least I have my teacher to help me out.

Good, but watch out for some unforgivable errors throughout.
Great book overall. Easy to understand and the graphics are nice. There are some errors in the book that really are blatant. I did expect more from the publisher/editor/author.

victim: this got me so heated i wrote my first amazon review
Basic writing errors are way too frequent in this textbook. The writing is extremely verbose, and sentences/paragraphs have horrendous structure. This textbook never fails to maximize word count and nausea while imparting a basic concept that could be phrased in a third of the length. It does this over and over again, at the sentence and paragraph level. It's intolerable. Wouldn't recommend reading this even if it were free and I were paid to. Complete waste of life. Hours and hours of life down the drain. Have you read this thing professor?- Student behind for medical reasons forced to rely on the worst textbook ever written

Good fundamental textbook
This textbook is reflecting the principles in (molecular) genetics. It starts with some general aspects for heredity, passes the classical rules of Mendel (with exceptions), gives insights in cell biological aspects and ends in modern molecular genetics with DNA structure, chromosomal organization, mutations, transposable elements, gene expression and regulation, and a couple of genetic approaches such as linkage mapping, or analysis of quantitative traits. Each chapter starts with an introductive part, points out some principles, and ends with some closing remarks and a summary. Besides, problems and the respective solution is shown and each chapter has a series of questions with answers for self-study purpose.

Bought for a course
Bought it for a genetics course in post secondary as the textbook store only had a package with the study guide, which wasnt required by my prof. This covered everything I needed to know. Excellent!
