Creative Labs Live! Cam Optia AF 2.0MP Webcam with Autofocus Lens

Bought this from "Amazon.com LLC".Uning it for almost 4 years now.It's a great & high quality webcam.With the proper software (i use Cyberlink YouCam) works flawlessly and with added features that its native software doesn't have (eg. security motion tracking).High definition 720p video.Autofocus works nicely.Microphone is great and works from from distance.Still image and video image quality is great.For the hack-o-phobic user, you can turn it around itself for privacy concerns.Works great with Skype, even works with my PS3.

Returned for refund. Overall video quality was poor. It had jerky motion at 640X480 resolution. The software is very basic only suitable for a webcam. The $15.00 Old creative live cam I purchased in 1990 has better resolution. I also have the 1.3 mp optia pro VF0380 and it comes with a ton of software suitable for surveillance, time lapse etc. resolution is 1920 x1020 and no jerky motion. Much better.

I've owned and used this for about two years and let me start off and say that it's really a great camera and the twist feature to silence the microphone is great on conference calls. The Creative Live effects are a hoot as well, these were some of the main reasons for me to buy this in the first place.I just recently found out due to upgrading to Windows 8 that this device isn't supported by Creative and using it under Windows 8 causes system crashes. Even when Windows 8 upgrade, there's no mention of incompatibility.If you're thinking about Windows 8 you may want to find a camera that supports the operating system better than Create does.Here's the link to their current driver support for Windows 8 [...]It looks like at this time the VF0750 is the only Webcam Creative makes that has a mature set of software drivers for Windows 8.

This camera takes a beautiful picture, but there is ZERO control of the cam in a Mac environment ... no control over exposure (which means you're hooped if there's 'too much' light in the room) and no control over video frame rate (so you're stuck at 15 fps). Creative tech supports says, "Thank you for your kind understanding."My point is that the product description and the vast majority of product reviews on Amazon (Creative's only online retail vendor, as far as I can see) are profoundly misleading, either by consciously or unconsciously employing a strategy of leaving out an essential piece of information, which is that the product is essentially crippled, or as Creative customer service puts it, 'restricted to plug an chat and that bundled software is not supported'.

I've used this camera daily for almost a month now. I've tried it with the included Creative Live! software as well as surveillance/security software (good for cubicle warfare defense).I am very happy with the physical appearance of it. The plastic is durable and has a nice finish. You can use the included clip to attach it to your monitor, etc. It does not fit the Dell flat panel line of LCDs. They're too thick and the clip arm doesn't hold well.The frame rate is not good. I found it get significantly less than 30fps. The picture quality is very good, but the auto focus drives me nuts! It actually zooms in and out slightly to help it focus. It's very distracting.At this price point I cannot recommend this camera. I really wanted to like it because of the 2MP resolution. Others may find the auto focus/zoom tolerable, but I just can't.

I'll Put It Like This I Hooked It Up And With Minor Adjustments I Was Online Talking With Friends Not To Mention The Software Package Which Allows You To Make Yourself Split In Half....Send Photo's Or Documents....Now Mind You There Are Other Big Named Corp.'s Out There ....Which Is What I Purchased First !And The Way I See It It Works Fine With All Their Software...But What Happens When Your Using Other Operating SystemsAnd That Is That

Recived this in Dec and have tried it on 3 different computers and get no pictur. Sent email to Creative Labs Tech Support which they responded to quickly, however, their advise was to try "fixes I had already told them I had tried in my first email. Now waiting for their response. The rating I gave is based only on the problems I've had so far and any future rating will be based on the outcome of my support request.
