I like that there is no beating around the bush
I do not have an autoimmune disease that I know of but my health could use some improvement and I have thought about looking into an elimination diet for some time. I headed into this book with an open mind and, as expected, about 10% of the way in, I was wondering what on earth I was actually going to be able to eat as the long, long list of foods to exclude continued on over several pages! The idea behind excluding these foods and the benefits to doing so still had me wondering how this was going to work with seemingly so little left to choose from - until I actually saw the vast array of allowable foods and realized that actually perhaps this wouldn't be so hard, after all! I like that there is no beating around the bush, here and there is great detail about FODMAPs and why you might want to eliminate them, why you should buy organic and how to make this "diet" plan work for you in such a way that you are not devoiding your body of nutrients and fuel that it needs, yet you aren't destroying it with unnecessary foods and additives, either! I appreciate the 30 day meal plan, which makes it easier to get a grip on just what it looks like to start on this particular journey and learn to listen to your body as you later re-introduce some of the foods and discover your own personal triggers for discomfort and what to avoid for the rest of your life to remain in your own personal comfort zone. A real easy, informative read that makes a lot of sense. I can't wait to try out some of the recipes and hopefully boost my positive eating trends at the same time! I was given this book in exchange for my honest review and all thoughts here are my own - your views may differ.

This book is simply amazing! My mother has rheumatoid arthritis and my dad has Alzheimer's and a rare blood disorder called poly cythemia vera. When anyone is diagnosed with any disease, it is really tough to figure out a new diet based around your disorder. Both of my parents were told they needed to change their diets, but where do they start? This book is absolutely perfect. It not only discusses auto immune diseases at length, but it also has a magnitude of lists that tell you what foods to include in your diet as well as lists of foods to completely eliminate. My father is addicted to overly processed foods like frozen pizzas but I'm hoping this book will prove that what he puts in his body is doing serious harm. My mom lives this book because it has helped her to see which foods have been exacerbating her symptoms so now she can avoid them! She has tried a few recipes already and loves them! The best part is this book actually has a full meal plan so you can start you diet. You can have your shopping list ready to go start your diet without having to plan it first! I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

Great Book for Paleo Dieters
Although I'm not a struggling with an autoimmune disease, this book was really inspiring, informative and helpful for improving my overall health. I've heard of Paleo diets, but really didn't know much about them. This book starts off by explaining autoimmune diseases, and then introduces a 30 day meal plan for the diet.It lists TONS of foods that you should avoid and totally delete from your diet. This was a HUGE list that was a little devastating to read, as most of the foods I love were on this list. I wish they had split it up a bit more, so it wouldn't be so overwhelming. I did like how it explained why I shouldn't be eating these foods, though - that was interesting. I was about to stop reading at that point, because it was getting frustrating to read that many items that I wouldn't be able to eat again, but continued on, and it started listing the foods I COULD eat.I liked how it told me what I could expect physically and mentally when I start the diet, which vitamins to take, and gave a LOT of recipes I could use. Overall, the book was broken down really well and would be amazing for those interested in changing their diets to this extreme, but it showed me just how extreme it would be. Although it's not for me, it was a wonderful book for the beginner paleo-dieter, or anyone with an autoimmune disease.Disclaimer: I received this book for free to review, however, my opinions are all my own and genuine.

Love love
These recipes are not boring and so full of flavor. I love it. A lot of veggies in here, I have had no experience cooking with so this has been such a great intro with them.

A Practical Guide to Easing Your Autoimmune Disease Symptoms with Nourishing Foods
This book was well researched and well presented. According to the research in this book, 50 million people in the United States suffer fromautoimmune deficiency disease; and, women are 75% more likely than men to get this disease. Research in this book has also demonstratedthat autoimmune deficiencies are one of the top 10 leading causes of death for women under the age of 65. This book suggests that the Paleo-based elimination diet can reverse symptoms of autoimmune disease and put the disease in remission. Like all good cook books, the"dirty dozen" and the "clean 15" are included in this book (e.g.) products with more pesticides in them and products with few to no pesticidesin them. A conversion table is made available in the text along with a variety of delightful meal plans. This is "an action" book in that it providesto the reader five tips to treat autoimmune disease through diet. Because the Western diet is filled with chemicals, sugars, and inflammatoryfoods, THIS IS A "MUST GET" book to stay healthy. This definitely is a book about people helping people. Kudos to the writers.(Source of the technical information above is from the book itself.)
