Works perfectly.
Last winter we were in the middle of health issues and our pump and filter didn't get "winterized". Starting up the pool this spring, we quickly found out something had gone bad. Sand was being dumped into the pool. With the high cost of a new filter, hubby decided to take it apart and see if he could easily figure out what was wrong. After opening and taking out the sand, he saw this "lateral assembly" was shattered. He went to Haywards website and found the part number and searched Amazon. We do not know price comparison direct from company versus ordering on Amazon. But since we have free prime shipping, we ordered here to get it quicker! He put in the new one and no more sand dumping into the pool.Fairly easy and fairly inexpensive fix.It seems same quality as original.Came in a Hayward box, so assuming this is an OEM part.

Filtration issues or broken laterals? Do NOT attempt repair, Do NOT go to pool store, just order this new part.
Works perfectly. We were having filtration issues and cloudy water. We thought the sand needed changed in our filter. When we got the old sand out we found out the standpipe was completely cracked and busted on our old lateral assembly. I spent a lot of time gently removing the old stand pipe and gluing in a new piece of PVC as someone on a pool forum suggested. We got everything in back in place, new sand in, backwashed and rinsed it and turned on the filter. Sand came right in the return jets and INTO THE POOL!! What a mess. We had to get ALL of the new sand back out. I ordered this, paid a few dollars for overnight shipping, installed and voila! We have excellent filtration again with new sand and this assembly. My local pool store wanted $200 for this part!!! Save yourself the headache and time. If you think your laterals are broken or the pipe has a crack go directly to Amazon.com, order this and be back in business!

To short
I had to add a piece from the old one with a cup link to get proper length. But it worked fine after adjustment.

Last summer our pool was spitting out sand nearly every day...
Upon inspection, we found out the white lateral pipe was cracked nearly the entire length which explains why we were getting so much sand in the pool last year. It was towards the end of the summer so we just dealt with it by vacuuming nearly every day. Reading online, I couldn't determine an easy way to replace just the center white lateral pipe and had no idea at the time if the "spider" pieces were cracked or deteriorated so I bought the whole lateral assembly on Amazon. It was a little time consuming to replace, but fairly easy. We used a shop vac to get the sand out of the filter. Rinsed it out and filled about halfway with water so the new sand wouldn't harm the assembly. We placed the new lateral assembly inside making sure all the "spiders" were locked in place. We taped some cardboard on top of the lateral pipe so no new sand would get inside. After that, 4 50 lb bags of sand and we were back in business. We backwashed for about 2 minutes until the water was clear in the sight glass. The pool has been opened nearly 3 weeks and not a grain of sand in the pool. This new part did the trick!

Perfect replacement
The previous owner of our home left the pool in dire straights claiming that they had a hose bust during the summer (we bought it the fall following) so they had winterized and closed it early instead of fussing with buying a new a hose and refilling the water lost as a result. Enter the spring season. I opened the deck up to find the winter cover falling apart and dry rotted. I pull the cover off to find the pool full of algae and leaves.Long story short, I found the lateral arm in our Hayward fliter to be cracked in three places and useless for filtering. This part being on here was a god send. Had it in a matter of days and the pool clean up started that same day.
