Etta James (born James Etta Hawkins; January 25, 1938 - January 20, 2012) was an American singer. Her style spanned a variety of music genres including blues, R&B, soul, rock and roll, jazz and gospel. Starting her career in 1954, she gained fame with hits such as "The Wallflower", "At Last", "Tell Mama", "Something's Got a Hold on Me", and "I'd Rather Go Blind" for which she wrote the lyrics. She faced a number of personal problems, including drug addiction, before making a musical resurgence in the late 1980s with the album Seven Year Itch. James is regarded as having bridged the gap between rhythm and blues and rock and roll, and was the winner of six Grammys and 17 Blues Music Awards. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, the Blues Hall of Fame in 2001, and the Grammy Hall of Fame in both 1999 and 2008. Rolling Stone ranked James number 22 on their list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time and number 62 on the list of the 100 Greatest Artists. Review: "A classic,...At Last". - You can 'truly' appreciate Etta James in any format of your choosing, but here on vinyl is where you can definitely get a sense of what it was like to be in her presence while recording. I have come to admire Etta James, not just as an artist...but as a woman who is purpose-driven, in the shaping of her career & craft. Etta James was an astonishing singer of blues, jazz, & opera; and on her album, the talent is obvious in its multitude. The range of Etta James' voice is noticeable,...in the sense that on the track "I'd Rather Go Blind" (Not on this album), you can hear both blues, as well as the soul, in various pitches. On this 'lp', the track "Something's Got A Hold On Me" is a perfect example of the jazz, blues & r&b sound all in one. All in all, this is a solid well-arranged album; every track is engraved on the album in original press-recording, the pressing, in general, is 'perfect' for lp. As a tradition,...I listen to the entire album on the weekend while enjoying a stogie & a good drink. Whatsoever is your poison of choice, with Etta James' album, you "will" enjoy it "at last" trust me... Review: Dad approved - Gift for dad and he love it!!

HIGHLY recommend. Why?
Bought this as a birthday gift for myself. โAt Lastโ was our favorite song. Losing my spouse still enjoy the music. The album is fantastic quality. I own a lot of old and some new records. Utterly amazed at the feel and appearance of the album. It appears slightly thicker and the vinyl vibes exceptional quality. Youโd have to hold this one next to others recently purchased to see what I mean. It resembles, to me, albums from many decades ago. Love Love Love this album. โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ ABSOLUTELY ๐ฏ๐
