ADS API-558-EFS Pyro A/V Link Video Converter (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

The converter wasn't what I spected but I could do the work I needed. I will recommend it for house use only not for a professional business.

I was so excited to get this product to finally convert old VHS tapes to digital files on my laptop. Well the first 2 times I used it, it worked great. I was so excited to have the ability to do this - then, the next time it used it, it just didn't work. No reason at all - the device hadn't been hit, dropped, etc. Basically it was still brand new and would have no reason for breaking. It just simply stopped working. So I called the customer support number and no matter what day of the week or time you call, the phone just rings and rings and rings and basically there is no service at all and nothing that can be done. I'm sure they're not still in business, with a product that only lasts 10 minutes before breaking. So take my advice and stay far away!!!!! Waste of money. I feel like I really lost on this one.

I have 4 other analog video converters or capture devices and this is the first one that really works. It is the first firewire which seems to eliminate conflicts and input speed. The box works perfectly except it should have a pass-thru for the analog signal and it could use a better on/off switch. It has to be rebooted occasiionally and the switch is weak. I have two of these boxes and I love them. A better switch and the pass-thru would make it perfect. Capturing video is a lot tougher than you might think. This box does it very well. Perfect service from Amazon, as usual.

This product did exactly what it said it would do right out of the box. It came with a good assortment of cables (I did need to buy a new firewire cable). I opened the box, hooked my VCR to the S video input and the audio inputs. Then hooked the firewire to the box and the other end to my mac. I pressed the button on the box to switch to analog input. (I also had to switch one of the dip switches from PAL to NTSC). I opened Imovie and clicked import from camera. My VCR showed up instantly and I imported more than 5 hours of video without any issues. The audio synced up perfect and I have no complaints. Great little product that did what it says it does. Money well spent.

it's fine, haven't used very much. But it's all good.

I purchased 2 of these units. The first worked for several years and then stopped. When I contacted the manufacturer, they said my unit had been replaced with a newer version and I would have to purchase it. The new one worked only for a few months and I sent it in for repair. When it came back, it only worked for a few more months. After contacting the company several times, I was told to send it in for repair. I did so about 6 months ago and have heard no more from them. I have since found something else that works better and have yet had no problems.I would not recommend the above product! I now use the following with success: Elgato EyeTV Hybrid 10021020

This product works great, just as expected. I have been using it to enconde all my VHS and 8mm old tapes. It came with a little on/off switch problem, but I managed to get around that by leaving it always on, and just unplugging it from the outlet. The Adobe software that comes along with it is a MUST. It has a lot of features, and makes you feel like a pro. Definetly a good acquisition.

I've bought in many places in the internet but the seller is excellent. the articles they have are of very good quality and work without any problem on my laptop. I recommend it and I'm pleased I did a very good buy.
