See update at end of review. One end snapped along the grain lines of the wood.
Finally got a chance to use it for the first time, after a few hours of stitching one end just snapped in half. Such a bummer I had great hopes for this product and it was quite expensive. I purchased it about 5 months ago so I can’t return it. I also found the knobs didn’t want to screw on easily. I also didn’t like that the rods required basting in the past I’ve used split rod frames which I think were better. Overall, while pretty I think it has some design and quality flaws. Update: I contacted the manufacturer and sent him photo, as I picked up the pieces I got a sliver from the intact bar...it was starting to splinter along a grain line at the edge, so took a photo of that issue as well and sent him that one too. He promptly sent me out replacements. So far so good. I also have his larger frame bars which I used a lot but are currently in storage. I wonder if the wood for my defective set somehow was super dried out or something. I do also worry sometimes that the knobs might get stuck, if that were to happen and one couldn’t unwind the fabric there would be no choice but to cut off the fabric. So I have revised my review and added stars. I do still prefer split rods tho. But I think that is a matter of preference. The stand I would normally use my split rods system with no longer works for me because of my disability I have to have my legs up so I need a lap stitch system.

Not Perfect but Useful and Attractive
This frame is a nice size for most of my projects. As with any lap frame, the width of your project (and so the length your scroll bars), dictates whether it's comfortable to actually use in a chair. It sits nicely on a table & I find I use it that way more often. It's visually appealing and nicely finished, but the knobs (round balls) are not stained to match the frame, and I wish they were a little smaller for this model; they're the same diameter as those that came with a larger version I have. The threading mechanism in one of my knobs was seated a little askew, but it does not affect the use of the frame. This frame is lighter than the larger one, and I prefer using this one when I can, it's less cumbersome. Both models came with a wide strip of heavyweight fabric firmly anchored to each rod. You can attach your project to the rods literally in seconds, if you have a zigzag sewing machine. I especially like this feature.

Excellent and attractive frame
This stand/frame is sturdy and very well made. I just finished a 3 month long project and am very pleased with the quality of the frame. The knobs did not strip, held the rods very firmly in place, and were easy to loosen when necessary. The best part is that I can use both hands to work, rather than holding the frame with one and the needle with the other. I have tried so many different kinds of hoops and frames, but this is by far the most comfortable to use. Needless to say, it also looks very pretty! Great purchase, if a little expensive.

high quality, but not comfortable for all stitchers
I was looking for a alternative to embroidery hoops because I have been having hand and wrist pain while cross stitching. I liked the look of this frame, so I thought I'd try it out. The wood and construction is very high quality - I was impressed! I've tried cheaper roller frames and they've left me with splinters. The balls are unfinished, and I think they'd look nicer if they were shellacked and finished the same as the frame. The frame came with two different size stretchers with a flap of thick aida attached. The idea is that you're supposed to baste your project to the frame. I found that this was not very convenient, since I like to take my projects with me, and was hoping I could easily switch between frame and hoop. I tried rolling my aida around the bars but couldn't get enough tension. I didn't find the frame to lessen the pain in my wrist - indeed, it required more movement of my dominant stitching hand.Think I'll stick with my hoop for the time being.

Extremely useful
This is perfect for smaller pieces of needlepoint (ornament size). I use it when I'm doing needlepoint and watching TV in the evening.

Tremendous product and support
Got this little frame for my wife’s needlepoint projects. She loves it! Had a smal problem with part of it and the seller had a new one to us in less than 24 hrs later. This is perfect to take in the car, out camping or sitting in her easy chair at home. You can’t go wrong with this device or the people supporting it.

very nice but limited
I like this but I gave it 4 stars as it came with a small tare in the canvas fabric which is stapled to one of the small rods. It is a bit expensive, but it is made in the USA. I still must use the hoops for pillowcases and articles of clothing. I have only been able to use for square or rectangle items.
