A very bad B Movie that I somehow really like for some reason?
While definitely a B Movie, this is both a good and a bad film. The majority of the cast are Cambodian little people. Their voices are oddly dubbed by wrong voices, they are not talented actors, and yet they are completely endearing. There are 2 good actors leading the film: Christopher Judge (from the Stargate TV series) and the beautiful Bai Ling. They are both great in the film and carry the responsibility of giving a lifeless movie some emotional heft. There are lots of obviously awful CG creatures that manage to still create some tension. Most of the fighting in the film is very inept and creates almost no tension. Despite all of the bad, the movie still managed to keep me interested in the story. The little people are hard not to care for in their many predicaments. Somehow their lack of acting ability makes them all the more charming. I legitimately cared for them.I watched this movie because I'm a Bai Ling fan and I loved her in it. But Christopher Judge was the true fantastic star. I loved his badass character with a heart of gold. He ruled this film with immense talent.I should have hated this movie but I kinda somehow love it. It worked on an odd very unexplainable level. Some place between monster dung and the mystical light of mother earth, this movie managed to be awful and satisfying at the same time. But I'm biased because I love B Movies.

Teal'c Saves the Halflings from the Moon Worshipping Daniel Bryan Cult!
Disclosure: I have deliberately undertaken a task to curate low budget movies from the modern era. This makes me ultra-tolerant of faults in movies. This movie is quite good. I watched it on Amazon Prime Videos for free.If you are expecting exquisite acting, you'll actually get it from Christopher Judge and Bai Ling, who have the top billing.I like the tree people family and the tree people in general. I suppose it only stands to reason that there would be a large number of little people in show business in southeast asia. There was a surprisingly good amount of worldbuilding for this movie. The tree people, live (naturally) in trees, are vegetarians, and worship the earth mother, and are quite inventive. The more prominent women know of the healing arts, which they use well. The rock men are moon worshipers, perform human sacrifice and cannibalism and live in caves. The humans live on the plains and hunt. They worship the sky father. Judge plays one of these, and it is precisely because of his role as Teal'c in Stargate SG-1 that he can pull off some of the lines in this movie without sounding cheesy. The acting ability and special effects are on-par with a Xena or Hercules. I'd totally watch a show based in this world.I'd also totally run or play this in a D&D campaign. There was even a time when I said to myself: Goben could do an extra 1d6 of damage because he's flanking that guy.Is this a movie worthy of cinematic release? No. That bar is way to high. But for a Amazon Prime Video I got to watch for free*? Easily a great value. This movie has two names. "Clash of Empires" and "Lord of the Elves".There are no elves, and no empires. Just a few tribes, and all of them are human.

misleading title but it works.
I've never really written reviews before, so I'll try to get straight to the point. If you are expecting this to be a grand film you'll be disappointed. but If you take it for the cheesy low budget laugh fest that it is, then you might be pleasantly entertained. This movie has so bad acting and lip syncing in it. as well as some poor special effects, but that just adds to its charm in my opinion. This movie is great I'd definitely watch it again. If you're planning on watching it be prepared for some extra cheese. On a more serious note: I will say it does a good job at world building and character development. I love the fact that the stakes in this are not some great evil about to vanquish the world or anything. It's just 'Guy goes on quest to save his village'. I do wish they would have utilized the main character a little more. perhaps using some more of his inventions or something, to show the humans how useful they can be. but overall a very entertaining movie.

A great Hyborian Age like tale.
Anyone reading the blurb and thinking this will be at all like Lord of the Rings like will be surprised. This is much closer (although predates) Robert E. Howard 's tales - so, Conan the Barbarian in the late Stone Age.It works and works well. The feel is very much like reading one of the Cimmerian's tales. In those, all the elements are grounded, not massive explosions and overbearing CGI. This movie has CGI that feels right. No making the scenes dark to 'enhance' the feel, the dragons and lizards came out in broad daylight and acted like - dragons and lizards. The actors did a good job of meshing with the animation.Wonderful work on an obviously small budget. I loved the feel of it. Cambodia looked just like I imagined the strange Hyborian Age landscapes Conan wandered. They really did a job with the few, un-stunt-skilled actors they had. The fights didn't look at all real but it was easily forgiven. I liked all the actors and hated the bad guys and was totally immersed within the first ten minutes and maintained my purposeful suspension of belief for the entire flick.Don't expect Tolkien. If you've ever *read* any Conan, expect that.

Wow! That was different...
Saw this on TV and had to buy it. It is so bad, it's brilliant. A foreign film where they pinched the story from Lord of the Rings and made their own version. Where else would you find real dwarves replacing hobbits, and speeches sounding like they are reading from a page. It's utterly crazy and will be a cult film to buy in the future. We were grinning madly from ear to ear from beginning to end, although it wasn't meant to be a comedy.
