These are the best!!
My middle school son has always struggled with math and got really behind during the pandemic. He’s currently with Tutor and these books have been awesome in rescuing him and filling in some of those gaps that he has in his math skills. He has come so far with this and I love the way they spiral forward.

INCREDIBLE Math book!!!!!
For those of you who pulled your children out of the institution's to homeschool looking for an amazing Pre-Algebra math book, THIS IS IT! In fact, the company Math Essentials by Richard W. Fisher has multiple math books available and we have just about every book. My daughter has absorbed this math so quickly and easily. She has become a math whiz. The way Richard lays out the review exercises on each page keeps their brains fresh from the previous days math lesson so they don't forget. The amount of problems is NOT overwhelming at all and straight to the point. His 4 minute free videos on each lesson are SOOOO easy to understand, he's very clear, and helpful in explaining all scenarios of the problems you may work through. I have actually spoken on the phone with Richard recently and this man was incredibly kind, genuine, and you can tell he put his heart and soul into these books. In fact, being a 41 year old mom homeschooling for the last two years, I finally know how to do math better as an adult than ever before because of his books!!! I HIGHLY recommend ALL of them. They are worth every penny and the best part: NO COMMON CORE GARBAGE! It's solving math simply and easily....the way it should be. No more Bill Gates brainwash.

I thought online tutorials was a great added perk to this particular book
I have bought just about all of Mastering Essential Math workbooks from Richard W. Fisher, however this is the first one that I purchased that included being able to go to the website and receive free lesson tutorials from Mr. Fisher. I am not sure but I felt that perhaps that was why this workbook as well as the Algebra workbook - - are more expensive?I thought online tutorials was a great added perk to this particular book.. However upon going to the website, in order to access the online lessons, it asked for a password?**Unfortunately I never received a password! So I am unable to access the free online lesson tutorials!!I sent an email inquiry, following the links on the website, but I never heard back? Maybe somebody is on vacation? But I've waited over 2 weeks for reply...***I gave this book three stars none the less because as I said it is a GREAT MATH WORKBOOK. I love the way Mr. Fisher explains the new math concepts with easy to understand language / examples that my child can follow along and comprehend with minimal instruction from me. Each lesson builds upon the last, and each page has a short review section at the top. I also appreciate how some of the books including this one has a review of each section with a final review / test at the very end.Of course, I would appreciate feedback/ a response to my email inquiry, from the website - - letting me know the password or how I can actually access the online tutorials... Perhaps if anybody is reading this they can let me know? I looked throughout my book and cannot find anything regarding a password. I would appreciate any help with this matter and again in the meantime I would not hesitate to purchase this book again :-)

Beginning is too abstract
I was all set to love this book. My daughter started LOVING math last year with Book 2 of Mastering Math Essentials. But this book starts off so abstract with concepts of finite sets and disjoint sets, she was in tears. I had to sit next to her and watch the lesson trying to figure out what he was talking about so I could explain it again 3 different ways. We tossed it after 2 lessons and went to something else. I'm looking through it again because we really loved the simplicity of the previous book. We may come back to this book and just skip everything about sets and just do the math part, because we need simple again and the rest of the book looks reasonable.

Typos Galore - not for the faint of heart
I picked this title up to brush up my pre-algebra skills for a college placement test and it went really fast but I gave it a low rating because the typos in this book are incredible - I can't believe an average level proof reader didn't catch the mistakes in the answers - if I were more faint of heart, I would be totally confused. The mistakes are needless - answer 9 instead of 19, n being referenced in an equation that only involved x, just silly stuff. I would not recommend this if your math skills are not pretty fresh or your confidence level strong enough so that you know the answer you got is right and the answer key has a typo almost every other page. All in all, even with those misgivings, I was pretty impressed that my review went that quickly - knocked off the book in about 5 days of casual test reviews while watching tv. Much credit must be given to the author's simplicity of teaching methodology - putting a simple rule out there, show how it works, then ask the reader to work on several (average 17) problems on that rule. THen check yourself on the answer key and move on. The last time I did math was 40 years ago but it came back lickity split. Though I still have no clue why we needed to know all that stuff but I guess I didnt' go into a science profession but my husband who did, feels the same way. But like a good Jeopardy program, this book can be taken lightly for a quick refresher, warts and all, just to test yourself and get some understanding of where you are on pre-algebra. It doesn't hurt to stay one step ahead of my kid to keep him impressed. And its never too late to go back to college to pursue an in-demand as opposed to esoteric profession of starry eyed youth. Money pays the bills and boring but practical, in demand careers should never be underestimated.

Self explanatory
I bought this book for my boys for the summer break to keep the basics intact. So far my boys love to work this book. The book is self explanatory for my second grader and the best part is I won’t get disturbed too much for help.
