Here's Your Chance
Volume 1 of this series became impossible to find in English, so I am very thankful it was re-printed and even more extatic that it was added to Volume 2 as a single purchase. This isn't just a great guide, it is a great compendium of lore and secrets from the makers of the game. Little tidbits about characters and plot points are scattered throughout the margins of these books, giving you a clearer understanding of the twisted world of the Umbrella Corporation and those who seek to bring it down. The pages are glossy and the artwork pops. I think you could honestly devote a single book to each game and have it be this size or bigger, but for what these books cover you are getting a huge wash of information. Reading through the characters and interactions throughout the games brought back fond memories of those experiences for me. I was also made aware of subtly hidden secrets that made me want to return to the undead laden catacombs and streets of Raccoon city to see for myself. If you are a fan of the series, or know someone who is, this is a winning addition to the shelf. Highly Reccommended.

Must buy for all Resident Evil fans
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Here's the 2-book set video game companion for the popular Resident Evil series. There are 544 pages total from the two archives. Archives I covers Resident Evil 0, 1, 2, 3 and Resident Evil Code: Veronica. Archives II covers Resident Evil 4 and 5.The content covers the stories, characters, creatures, items, art, timeline and keyword profiles. There's a lot to read, uncover and reminisce about if you've played the games.I like the character and creature profiles. For the characters, they are really detailed in the background. Also included are relationship maps that show you who's linked to who. The stories and profiles serve as a good recap to how the plot has evolved over the many games, and years. There are plenty of video game screenshots with the narrative. The concept art includes character designs, creatures and background art. While there are many pieces, they are printed rather small so it's not easy to see the details.Overall, this book is a must-buy for all Resident Evil fans. It's quite a bargain considering the price and the amount of content included.(There are more pictures of the book on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.)

No Disappointment Here
After missing out on the first printing of Archives I and trying to convince myself that I was not missing out on anything, I finally broke. I battled the thought of buying this set because it has a cover price that was quite high for my income, but at 24.99, I couldn't beat that with a dead cat! I made the purchase and was happy to receive the package. After flipping through the books, I began to sit down and read the first one. I know there are a lot of complaints about the first printing, but I have not encountered any major problems (and only 1 or 2 minor problems) while continue my reading. I was a bit surprised to not find any writings about Survivor, Dead Aim, Outbreak 1 or 2, or ORC in either of the books, but all of those games can be considered non-cannon, depending on who you speak to about the franchise. If you are looking at getting an in-depth look at the core series of Resident Evil, do not hesitate to buy this bundle. It's worth the money...and you don't want to be caught like I was watching the price sky-rocket when they stopped printing each book. (No joke, Archives I, first printing was hitting well over $100.00).

Delayed Gratification
After numerous changes in estimated shipping dates by Amazon, and further delivery delays due to Hurricane Sandy, I finally received my order (after a 14 hour day at work) last night! I left the box on the table and went to bed. This morning I had enough time to open the box and flip through the first book and my initial opinion is extremely positive. The bundle arrives as two separate books. Both have 2012 publishing dates.Archives I covers Resident Evil 0 to Resident Evil Code: VeronicaArchives II covers Resident Evil 4 and 5I think there is a tremendous wealth of information in these books, especially for someone like me who's only knowledge of the Resident Evil franchise has come from just the movies. The first RE game I ever played was Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City. I also have Resident Evil 6 Archives so now I have a fair chunk of Resident Evil games to play through. Due to the wealth of information I thought some of the illustrations were quite small but this might be due to the fact that these are screen captures from older games in a resolution that's sub-standard today. But that would be my only complaint. Now, material from Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City and Resident Evil 6 are not presented. Perhaps there will be a Resident Evil Archives III...?If you love the Resident Evil series you will love these books. If you're a Resident Evil n00b like me, well for the games at least, you will find tons of background and information on Resident Evil.

great Resident Evil books - but over-priced
This is a great bundle - collecting volumes one and two of the Resident Evil Archives. Each book (roughly the same size as a large and thick magazine) explores certain aspects of the RE videogame saga. Volume One looks at everything released up to 2003; while Volume Two examines the various releases from 2004 to 2009.The books offer a wealth of information concerning the plots of each game, the various characters, the monsters, weapons, collectible items, and so on. Every detail of every game - from the original 'Resident Evil' to Resident Evil 5' - is identified and described. There and many screen shots - explaining how to progress through the games. And there are numerous illustrations of the key protagonists (e.g. Jill Valentine) and central villains (e.g. Albert Wesker). For fans of the videogame series, these are very interesting books. They're arranged in an attractive manner, and it's obvious that care and attention has been spent on these publications.I bought this bundle for approx. £15 - which was a bargain. Unfortunately, they now tend to be over-priced - so I suggest looking for the most reasonable seller.
