Product Description Basics Wall Mounted Modern Coat Rack, 5 Hooks, White From the Manufacturer Basics

Shorter than listed dimensions!
The long description does not list its length anywhere, which seems like a key piece of information to leave out. Towards the bottom, the product dimensions are listed as "25 x 4.2 x 7 inches ". This is definitely not 25 inches, closer to 22". I needed something longer to cover up existing holes. Website needs to list correct length! It did appear to be made well and was aesthetically acceptable, so I gave it two stars.

Not Real Wood
The 'wood base' is actually particle board covered in a plastic veneer.

These are laminated press board but still great looking and durable for the money.
These are laminated press board but still great looking and durable for the money. I read a lot of the reviews and looked closely at the photos and still got fooled into thinking that these are made from solid-wood slats. They are definitely not. They are made of a masonite-like press board and laminated with a thin veneer of real wood. Even with these in hand, they hide it really well. My wife couldn't tell. I'm an old carpenter so I could immediately see that no piece of real wood could ever have long grain on front/back/sides AND both butt ends. LOL. Still with all of that, I got a 2 pack of 8 hooks each. So 16 hooks mounted on boards (faux boards, but still "boards" if you want to call them that)... and all for the price of about hooks (just the hooks) at the local box stores. So all in all, I'm happy with them. They have been up for several months now and seem to have no problems. They look good. Oh, btw, I did NOT use the goofy mounting system that came with these. They make it so you can hide the mounts... who cares? I zipped some nice heavy-duty screws right through the face and into studs and then counter-sunk the screw heads flush with the laminate. I didn't even bother to wood-putty over them. I could cover them, but I couldn't care less. I don't mind looking at screw heads. Anyway, using their hidden-screw mounting system would sacrifice sturdiness, so no thanks. So yeah, decent pieces for the money. I still just find it so funny that anyone would go through all the trouble of laminating press-board when they could use cheap, cleaned-up/sanded pallet slats for less money and less hassle.

Good hooks. Even better if you're only buying one row!
These hooks are great. The only problem is that I ordered two to install side by side but as you can see from the photo, the wood is different on each one and they do not match. After contacting the seller they exchanged it so I have two matching. Now a few months later, I need to buy a third, hoping it will match! They are good quality and look good, def worth the money, I just hate the hassle of returns and exchanges.

Look elsewhere
Too darn good to be true. The screws and plastic anchor are cheaply made and the ruler guide to level wall mount is useless. This is definitely a basic product, with basic tools that the product actually needs extraordinary material to properly mount.

Did not come with 2 sets of mounting hardware!
I really liked the Amazon Basics wall mounted coat rack.Love the color of them, got the barn wood.I am going to use them in my bathroom. However they only came with the screws to mount one of them.So I have to make a trip to the hardware store to get the screws to mount the other one.And that’s a 20 minute plus drive. 40 minutes to an hour round trip...Not looking forward to the drive just to get the screws and mollies!

Incomplete milling for mounts, but great product.
Perfect for a wall mount, with a little extra reinforcement. The hardware that came was designed for 4 mounts on the wall, but only 2 grooves were premilled. Misleading, but not really a deal breaker for the price. So I put in 2 heavy duty drywall mounts on the 2 premilled sides and a decorative screw through the middle into the wall stud, behind the drywall. I holds ALOT right now I had maybe 4 backpacks loaded on it and various jackets and clutter for a a few weeks.Right now I have a gear bag (probably 25 pounds) on the far right hook, no noticable warpage. It's got a nice clean white too. Brightens up the room nicely.I would have put 5 stars if it had the four premilled holes. They shipped 4 dry wall mounts per bracket, and it was in the installation manual... Someone was probably doing a handmade shortcut on the line.

Great coat rack, installation requires drill
It’s a great coat rack. Sturdy and looks great. The included hanging fixtures require a drill with bit to pre-drill the hole, which may increase the difficulty of installation for some.

Super Value
Previously, we had hooks on the back of all the bedroom doors for bath robes. Having just had all of the doors replaced with new oak ones, I didn't want to start screwing hooks into them!I looked at lots of alternatives, suitable for bedrooms, and there are absolutely loads - but very little we liked until looking at these. They are available in 3 x finishes, but we chose natural, which come in packs of 2 (but you can also get individually). In all honesty I was really, and pleasantly, surprised at the quality of them, and finish to the wood. The hooks are nicely finished, and strong - not roughly cast like some, and likewise the wood nice and smooth edges etc.The screws are captive, the coat hooks slide over screw heads (like key holes) for a nice flush finish, with no exposed screws etc.Love 'em! Super value too.

Looks good, easy to fit
These are great - oddly the twin pack where you get 2 of the hook racks in one pack was £1 more than the single pack... Don't quite get the logic of that!It was easy to fit and we stored the second one as a spare incase the first one breaks. Ours has gone into a solid wood bathroom door for coats etc - it's having to put up with quite a bit of weight from Parka Coats etc and it's standing up to that quite well!Occasionally you put a heavy coat on it and it'll creak so I'm not sure how long it'll be before we get woke up with it snapping in the night - but it seems sturdy enough and seems like it'll last long enough!Ultimately if you overload it - as with anything - expect it to break. Keep within its limits and it'll work fine! The paint finish and the black hooks are really well finished too so overall a great little package of hooks

Good value
Pro:The only black hook on wood finish hook sets around. (Majority of Amazons other finish sets have chrome hooks with doesnt match my room decor, was very pleased to find some black hooks)Very easy to installSturdyCon:The wood effect finish is not great at all. Doesnt look much like wood, could pass as a paint brush effect of brown and grey. We bought barnwood as was the closest we could find to match our stained oak furniture. Once the hooks are loaded up you dont notice quite as much, but ours is installed out of direct sunlight/discreet location. Wouldnt buy this finish again.

Happy enough
Happy enough with this product, very happy with the price as you get 2 in the box. Was easy to install but I don't think hanging it like you hang a picture is a good design.. it was way too wobbly fitting it like this, I had to drill a few extra holes and put screws directly through it to make it more sturdy.. it would be fine for a few jackets but with a family of 5 we have alot of jackets and I could see the wood bowing with the weight.. over all Happy but it needs a design update to take screws directly through it..

Hidden fixings
I bought this to match some Ikea FJALLBO furniture. The wood is a reasonable match. This coat rack comes with a handy piece of paper that helps to measure the correct distance between holes. The fixings are hidden - two screws into the wall and then the rack slots on.The hooks seem quite sturdy and I think it looks very smart.I do however think it's a bit overpriced, for what it is.
