This prompts book was really informative and useful
I really liked this book because it gave me so many ideas. I wasn't able to use some of the poetry stuff but there were prompts from historical situations, relationship problems, reasons for arguments, ideas for titles, ideas for subject matter just very useful overall. There wasn't much I didn't like but again I couldn't use the poetry section but I didn't buy it for that.Very confidently written and has ideas for multiple genres I got some ideas for westerns, which I had never thought of tackling before. The prompts for fantasy and science fiction were very interesting and thought inspiring.I've seen other reviews here who said that this book focused on social media, and that's not correct. There is a section for young adult writing but that's only one section. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is starting out as a writer or looking for ideas for their current work in progress. Some of the prompts are one word prompts some of them are full paragraphs. There's a small section on using classic prompts from ancient Greek and Rome or Shakespearean ideas.I consider this book a valuable addition to my writer's library.

Excellent Source of Ideas!
So excited that I purchased this book, 5000 Writing Prompts: A Master List of Plot Ideas, Creative Exercises, and More, I packed it in my luggage this past May 15 to May 20, 2023 on vacation to Amelia Island, Florida--staying at a condo unit at the Ocean Place #27; and little did I know that a literary thief gained access with his duplicated key to my room and swiped it! Forever and ever gone! Always! And now to compensate myself for this loss, I am reordering it and will pay particular care in keeping this valuable book within my care.Yes, this book is an excellent treasure trove of ideas! I don't care what writer's block you might possess, it will get your creative juices flowing and you will be amazed by the writings you create. So, go get it and keep it under "locks"--you don't want anyone to take off with i! Have fun!

Interesting
Most are basic prompts but I can definitely see them as being useful for new writers. I would recommend this book.

A must-have for any writer's library.
There are some times as a writer when the exact thing I need is to borrow someone else's brain for a second to see things from a new angle or add an outside take to a plot or a scene that I never would have come up with on my own. I often talk through my books with my writing group, but when they're not available, this book is the closest thing I can get to that experience.Bryn's brain, and as a consequence, this book, is packed full of story sparks and prompts to set your writer's mind off in new directions. There are prompts to help you begin a story. There are prompts by genre (fantasy, sci-fi, horror, mystery, romance, YA, historical fiction, general fiction) as well as prompts to spark ideas for characters, setting, and dialogue. As an author who often writes retellings, I particularly loved the section with plots from European fairytales and mythology, Shakespeare and classic cinema. The prompts based on the senses were another a favorite of mine. And lest you think this book is only for fiction writers, Bryn also includes a substantial section with prompts for poetry, blogging, and autobiographical stories.I'm so glad to have this resource on my Kindle and carry with me always.

Perfect if you don't know what to write about
I saw a book on Amazon a few years ago entitled: 1000 Writing Prompts. I didn't buy that one, but this one is much better. There are so many good prompt ideas in this book. I won't spoil it, but I love the ideas present here. Will I use all 5,000 prompts and make 5,000 novels? Probably not. I'll probably find less than ten prompts in the book that I just use over and over again. But this book contains some blockbuster ideas. I haven't used any of the prompts yet, because I currently have a lot of ideas that I came up with myself that I want to write about. This is really for when you're stuck and you want to write, but you don't know what to do.

A white space or line through each page of text...
I have yet to really go through the book. I was really looking forward to it. I am a little perturbed that the writing appears to have a line straight through the page as if a portion of the writing was erased. I will work with it as best I can. It seems to be the case throughout the book. So three stars is all I can give it at the moment. Maybe it was just a bad copy. Hopefully that is the case. I got this book along with another by the same author. The other book seems to be completely intact, thankfully. For the price of $14 or $15 though, the type could have been better.

Not very useful
It is not what I expected. The book offers only hints (one-line sentences). I was hoping that I would find more structured plots. It is essential for a writer to know all the conventions of genre. This book does not explore them.

Fantastic!!
I am currently reading the following books: '5,000 Writing Prompts - A Master List Of Plot Ideas, Creative Exercises, And More. + 'Master Lists For Writers - Therasuses, Plots, Character Traits, Names, And More' both books are by Bryn Donovan. These books are non fiction. Both of these books are packed full of advice and Ideas. There are creative writing exercises to support writer's block. Also, there are many Ideas to support a writer to find plots and subplots for their next novel. In addition, Bryn has provided a detailed Therasuses to support 'Show and Not Tell'Abouselty Fantastic!!I would highly recommend these books to any writer, especially beginners.I am writing my first novel, and these books have made the process easier and more enjoyable.Bryn's writing is clear and to the point. The only downside is I would have found it increasingly helpful if there was more on emotional descriptions, body language descriptions and and facial expression descriptions.I would recommend using this books as a reference whilst writing or editing.
