No, this system is a soundbar with virtual 3d sound emulating the effect of rear speakers.

No you cannot connect any rear speakers to this system. it is a soundbar & subwoofer only, giving the effect of 3d but without the need for rear speakers

Q: Does this work with Alexa?

Works with mine but I have the Amazon cube fire tv

Q: does this have optical?

Yes it has a fibre optic interface. However, if you use this feature, the Dolby atmos sound is not produced/supported. I returned my soundbar as there were sound problems. The volume did work, however I had to 'crank' the volume up to 85/100 (Max) to hear the surround sound features. There was no sound from the unit until I reached 26/100 so my TV without the sound bar produced better sound unless I has the sound bar at 'nearly' max. At the max volume setting - we could hear the sound but it was not that loud. The one I listened to in the shop was much louder/clearer. So I think I had a 'duff' unit.
