Change Your Mind and Keep the Change: Advanced NLP Submodalities Interventions

This book expects that you have read another book before it.
I have only read the introduction and part of chapter 1 so far. That is because in the introduction it states they have expected you have already read the book Using Your Brain - For A Change by Richard bandler ,which is a book these writers have edited two years prior. It explains that if you have not read that one you would not be able to get full value from reading this one. Since I had not yet read that book I have only read a little of this book and at least the little part that I did read is a bit dry. It may seem dry because I haven't read the other book yet. I will wait till the other book arrives and I read it before continuing on this book. I might then using your brain for a change book is about $13. And the cost of that one to this one and now we're getting up there. If I eventually end up loving this book I will upgrade from two stars. But right now that's all I can give it.

Frustrated
The best part of this book is the title. The title seemed so promising, but this book falls flat in its delivery. In the end I abandoned my efforts to finish reading it. It's basically a bunch of transcripts of NLP classroom interactions. It's difficult read and difficult to apply.

Many thanks again. Natalie
I am so impressed with this new slant on belief systems, and am having success with the therapy already. Am looking forward to a whole new vista on life.

Discusses Basic NLP Building Blocks
If you are an advanced student of NLP (at least having completed a practitioner training) and wish to get a deeper and more practical understanding of using and interpreting time lines, the swish pattern, submodalities, and the internal-external meta program; then this book is definitely for you. It is written by two NLP leaders who put their vast practical knowledge on paper from which the rest of us can benefit. Specific applications such as Eliminating Compulsions, "The Last Straw" Threshold Pattern and Responding to Criticism are presented in detail. Given this book was written in 1987, many newer and more elegant techniques have been developed since. However Steve and Connirae Andreas provide us with a rich understanding of NLP basics that gives us greater insight as to why the newer techniques work, what we need to be aware of when using these techniques and how we can actually use these basic building blocks to develop our own approaches. A significant part of the book consists of transcripts of actual sessions. For me, this did not enhance my reading enjoyment; however it did provide clear descriptions as to how the techniques can be used in practice.

NLP Trainers and Coaches
I've read most the books, I get them all. Was supposed to be with Bandler earlier this year. With Grinder and Gilligan pre-covid. I go looking for the best. This book is a big surprise. I learned TimeLine through one of the ABNLP schools and only learned it on a shallow level. This book had me practising, deeping my learnings and when it came to teaching & mentoring new coaches, it was worth it's weight in gold.
