Super easy to install, provide a suitable amount of force
Update of review below from August 2018:After 4+ years of use, the struts are still working great. There is some corrosion on the outside tube of the struts, but it is only cosmetic. The effort required to close the hatch has declined very little, so it is still new-car stiff. The reviewer who suggested using one new strut and one old strut might have the answer for people who find the new struts too difficult to close. Replace one strut and test your hatch to see if that works for you.=====================================I received the struts today and installed them a few minutes ago on my 2008 Odyssey, replacing the original struts which no longer supported much, if any weight. My initial impression is very positive. When I release the latch on the liftgate, the struts lift it to the fully open position at a reasonable pace. Closing the lift gate is not as easy as it had been with tired old struts, but the amount of force required is about what I'd expect to have to use on a new vehicle.Removing the old struts was super easy. A flat-head screwdriver (medium size) easily pries up the metal clip at each anchor point of the old strut, and you just pull the strut off (while somebody holds the lift gate up, of course). Replace the first strut you remove before removing a second.Putting a new strut on took just seconds. You just line the first connector up with the ball mount on the car and press or smack it until you hear it click into place. For the second connector, you do the same, but you may have to rotate the connector and have your helper raise or lower the lift gate a little to get everything lined up.The struts have Odyssey-specific connectors screwed onto each end. Before installation, make sure both ends are screwed on almost all the way. You don't need to tighten them, but you want to make sure that they aren't screwed out where there are only a couple threads holding them in place and the connector-to-connector length of your strut is too long.

Wish I had installed these a year ago.
Super easy install. The liftgate jumps out of my hand when I open it. I would say these work better than the factory ones.

Great product, great price and easy to install
My Honda Odyssey van's liftgate wouldn't stay open so I went to Napa to see if they carried the parts. I thought I was lucky because they did. For two of them they were $150. I thought that was steep but I thought that's just what they cost. The guy working there told me, "I hope you aren't going to try and put them on yourself. I cut myself really bad putting some on." He proceeded to give me a card with his buddy's phone number on it that would put them on for me. He went on about how hard they are to install. I got home and did a video search to see if it was possible to at least try to install them. I found a link for Amazon and bought these and returned my Napa overpriced rip off items. I propped up the door with a long stick, used one flat head screw driver and replaced both in under 10 minutes. I am thrilled I fixed the hatch for $30 and very annoyed with Napa.

Easy to install
Our trail gate broke while on vacation. We had this sent to our friends and were concerned about installing it, being away from home and tools. Went together smoothly ❣️

Pretty good
I used this for my Honda Odysssey 2005. It was incredibly easy to install and only a fraction of the price that I could have paid. Anyone could install this even my 10-year-old child could so don’t let your worry that you cannot install it stop you from buying this. There are several tutorials on YouTube. This product works just fine. It’s nice not to have to open the back hatch and have all its weight fall on me. I gave it four stars because it does not open as quickly/smoothly as my old ones did before they broke. It does take much more effort to close it than it used to. If that doesn’t bother you this is a cheap alternative to having someone else do it for you. So far so good. I’ll keep my review updated if anything goes wrong.

Works great - Seconds to replace! But I'd use only one.
Reviews for Liftgate Lift Supports Struts say much of the same thing and I tried to get ones that look closest to the factory form (I avoided the skinner struts), with the common problem of the Odyssey's liftgate springing up and hard to close. So, I only removed the worse-looking original strut (leaking) and only installed one new Maxpow. Opening and closing is perfect. It's still marginally harder to shut the liftgate, so two would be too much! Save the other one for another day.Have someone else HOLD open the liftgate while you install the Maxpow strut. All you need is a small flat head screwdriver to pop the clips. Do a quick cleaning of the area with a wet paper towel (may have hydraulic fluid in the area) - clip on the new strut and done. You won't need the friend to install the 2nd one, but again - DON'T bother. Or if you want, do it and see how difficult & dangerous the liftgate is and then go back to one. Remember to leave one original strut in place!

This is a quality product that is extremely easy to install….and they WORK WELL!
The Maxpow two piece tailgate trunk lift supports are of excellent quality and easily handle my heavy tailgate on my Honda Odyssey. I had them both installed in less that 5 minutes. I can definitely recommend this product….certainly solved my problem.

Perfect fit and balance...
Easy to install on 2007 Honda Odyssey EX (not powered). The lifts have very good, controlled pressure when opening the rear door and it rises upwards. I don't have to jump out of its way to avoid being hit by the door. On closing the rear door, the struts require just enough effort to pull/push it closed. The lift arm pressure is strong and supports the door in either direction and I don't have to worry about it lifting up or dropping down suddenly if something is in its travel path. Very similar to Honda's original rear lift struts imo. But it is new and time will tell. Cheaper lift struts were not as safe/controlled.Very happy with purchase despite there being cheaper strut options.

Easy to install
Installed a few weeks ago, work great. A little stiffer and slower to raise with some air noise. Overall a great OEM product.
