HANDY ART JOURNAL BOOK
I’ve used this with water soluable oils & golden open & regular acrylics. It’s a handy size for experimenting with paints to improve technique and just being expressive for fun. The spiral is nice for laying a page flat & painting. I painted over the print on the cover & left the art scene showing on mine for a nice journal look.

Travel journaling
Great spiral for light watercolors, sketching and journaling.

Coarse and strong only on one side of the page.
I’m only using one side for watercolors. The back of the page is more for mixed media or ink. Over all, a good sketchbook for the price.

Excellent for the price
Good quality watercolor paper at a very reasonable price. Stood up well to wet-in-wet method.

Not for professionals
Does not work well for watercolor. I experimented a few different ways and the paper would disintegrate rip or just look cheap. Not wasting it tho now using it to sketch out with pencil for larger pieces on canvas.

Great price, great size, but make note of divots in "cold-pressed" paper
I only started painting (acrylic paint) in April 2022, but I zipped right through my first painting book. It was 300gsm and "hot-pressed," apparently. The first is to do with the thickness of the paper, the latter with the quality of the surface. The higher the number, the thicker the paper. 300 gsm is great about water and paint; it'll warp as it dries, but it will not bleed through, which is great. Hot-pressed paper is smooth; cold-pressed is "toothy" and has texture.Like I say, I zipped right through my first book, which I'd got at Five Below, and was 50 pages, 5.5" x 8.5", 300gsm. I loved the size because it's small and not overwhelming. By the time my book was complete, Five Below was no longer stocking the same size. After shopping around, this product, "U.S. Art Supply 5.5" x 8.5" Premium Heavyweight Watercolor Painting Paper Pad," was the closest I could find to both the size and price point.I was a little alarmed that every page, as you can see in my little cropped image of a painting I just finished, has these noticeable divots running up and down. It definitely affects painting. I've learned to deal with it, but you should be aware that you are getting not-flat, heavily-textured paper.I have since learned that this is what they mean when they say the paper is "cold-pressed." It is not a fault, but a perfectly ordinary feature of paper produced this way.All things considered, for the price and the thickness of the paper, I am very pleased with this 3-book, 90 page total, watercolor paper bundle. In time, I don't doubt I'll really enjoy painting on toothy, textured paper! I do wish they made a "hot-pressed" version of this 3-book, 30-page each, 300gsm product!

Good Value
Good value. The paper is not a bright white. It has a slight pinkish tint but still serves as a white background.
