Lucero Sandoval is a pretty youngster who gets little attention at home, and is sent to a strict boarding school, where her rebellious behavior puts her at odds with the cruel headmaster. Enrique, a handsome new teacher, develops a wonderful communication with the students, and especially with Lucero. He encourages her to enter a race, where her athletic prowess makes her the school heroine. But between the track and the classroom, Lucero and Enrique discover the feelings that are growing between them, and the many obstacles they have to overcome before they can be together.
