Harmony simplified: or, The theory of the tonal functions of chords - Scholar's Choice Edition Paperback – February 13, 2015

This is a classic in music theory books. However, this version was directly reproduced from the original and the type is quite small. The author deserves 5 stars but the format gets only 3 stars from me. Get this book from another publisher.

This English translation of Reimann's 1896 work is clearly done by a non-native speaker of the English language! This work is difficult enough to fathom without being hamstrung by a poor translation written by someone that appears to only have a tenuous grasp of basic theory. If you are someone like me who is supposed to be well-versed in all forms of music theory, then by all means buy it for the historical perspectives it might yield. If not, don't bother. The title "Harmony Simplified" is a real misnomer, it should have actually been called "Harmony Vastly Over-Complicated".Jeff Brentauthor of  Modalogy (music theory / Hal Leonard 2011)

児面倒臭く書いてあるが、内容は、クラシック音楽用ではない、何に使うの？

Ante todo decir que le pongo 5 estrellas porque el libro lo merece y por la relación calidad-precio.Me inicié hace años en la armonía funcional con la imprescindible Armonía de Diether de la Motte y me resultó apasionante.Luego conseguí la Armonía y Modulación de Riemann ,publicada por Labor ya hace años, y ahora ,gracias a Amazón y a un precio muy bueno esta obra, de la cual no existe traducción al español.Es una completa introducción a las teorías armónicas de Riemann, con numerosos ejercicios(eso sí,utilizando su simbología, en ocasiones compleja) y en cuanto a la reimpresión(es fotocopia de un original escaneado en Internet Archive) considero que es muy buena.Raras veces un pentagrama o un símbolo se ven menos nítidos,pero me parece poco importante para el conjunto de la obra.En definitiva,un libro muy interesante y a un precio muy bueno.Yo estoy muy satisfecho de su adquisición.
