Great Unit
I did weeks of reasearh prior to purchasing this unit. I talked to fishermen/boaters on the water, actual users and multiple retail sales people selling multiple brands. At the end of the day they all pointed to this Garmin unit (even some selling competetive brands) as the best of class in this price range. They pointed to screen clarity and better maps as the features that pushed it to number one. I have used this on the water about a dozen times with no issues. The DownVue gives unbelievable bottom detal for finding and identifying structure and the standard sonar picks up even the smallest fish. The many option on split screens let you select what works best for each fishing experience. I have tested the depth and found it to be extremely accurate and the GPS is right on point. I also enjoy the audio alarm option that can be set for small, medium and larger fish.If you are truely interested in this model, I would suggest downloading the manual on the Garmin website. The options are to numerous to name in this review. For me, this has been the perfect unit and I could not be happier with the performance and options.

I installed this in my 2008 Yamaha Jet Boat. I run mostly on the inland rivers but occasionally venture out into the intercostal and great bay. I'm really impressed with the sonar. The maps sometimes show me driving on land and the maps run out once I venture up-river too far. The G2 vision map wasn't as helpful as I hoped it would be. I would skip it if I could go back in time. It doesn't seem worth the cost. The firmware is intuitive and the unit is easy to operate. I use the tide features a lot and the speed monitoring is great for skiing and wakeboarding. Glad I have it. I also bought a second power cord so I could play with it at home.

Super Deal!!!
Super deal!! Probably the best $299 I have ever spent! Very easy to install the transducer and mount the GPS! Installed everything in less than 2 hours on a Friday evening. Tried it out on a Sunday and was pleased with the ease of use! I would recommend this to ANYONE! I do inshore and nearshore fishing and the maps were preloaded for the east coast! More than pleased! 5 stars easy

Great unit but with a potential hidden cost
Great product, easy to use. But it comes preloaded with saltwater maps. If you intend to boat on inland waterways, be prepared to pay an extra $150-200. I still rate this unit highly but that turned out to be a serious gotcha for me.

Nice unit, but if you have to download material from Garmin expect much frustration. They are way back in the 1900s.
