Perfect purchase for my afternoon tea!
Kettle works great! I purchased this about four months ago and wanted to wait to review it to make sure it was working as described. I use this daily for my tea. Water quickly comes to a boil and has an automatic shut off once it dies. Sits perfectly on my countertop and looks good. I like the blue light when it’s on. I was concerned because some people have complained about the push button top. But I find if you touch the top and pull your finger back as you’re touching it. It opens every time. It seems to stick when you just push straight down. Has not given me any problems at all. Very happy with my purchase.

Reviewing: Mueller Ultra Kettle: Model No. M99S 1500W Electric Kettle with SpeedBoil Tech, 1.8 Liter Cordless with LED Light, Borosilicate Glass, Auto Shut-Off and Boil-Dry Protection:You can purchase this kettle with confidence. I had the same model until very recently, and it worked reliably for nearly 8 years. It was still boiling water perfectly when I decided to replace it, but the pop-up part of the lid was sticking occasionally and no longer opening and closing as well as it used to. We use a kettle at least 8 times per day (multi-person household, drinking a lot of coffee and tea), and if a kettle can last us for 8 years and still be working, then it’s a good kettle. Here I am, having just purchased the same kettle as before, so (not surprisingly), I’m happy with the new kettle too. Too many kettles have a small capacity. This one boils a good quantity of water, which means that if I’m cooking pasta, I can boil the water in the kettle first, then add it to the pan of pasta, without having to boil the kettle twice. It will also boil enough water for 4 large mugs of coffee. All electric kettles in the USA take a while to boil, but this is as quick as any I’ve tried. The blue color is cheerful and bright on cold winter mornings, and the big advantage of a kettle like this is that it has an auto-shut-off. You can fill the kettle with water, flick the switch, walk away and do other things… then when the water’s boiled, the kettle will “ping” to let you know, and it will shut itself off. You never need to worry that the water will boil over, or melt a pan, or flood your kitchen, or anything like that.I’m an English person, so I know about kettles. For anyone not familiar with electric kettles, this doesn’t go on your stove. There’s a base that plugs into a wall (and has a nice, long cord), then the kettle sits on top of the base while it heats the water. It can safely be left on the base all the time, because unless you’ve flipped the switch to turn it on, the water won’t be heating.Caution: People have asked me if a kettle like this can be used to cook pasta in, or heat soup. The answer is no. It’s just for water. This is a good, reliable kettle, and it's excellent value for the price. You'll love it.

Great kettle, great customer service
I really like this cordless electric kettle, and I use it multiple times a day, every day to boil water for French press coffee, tea, ramen, rice, or any other reason I need hot water quickly. It has a high capacity, boils super fast, the handle stays cool, and the spout pours cleanly. The glass makes it easy to see the water level, and it looks nice sitting on the counter. Overall it's just a good design. I had this same model previously for about 3 years before it stopped working, and bought it a second time because, for as heavily as I use it, I was satisfied with that longevity for the relatively inexpensive price. The second one only lasted about 8 months before it stopped working, which was disappointing, since this is a great kettle and otherwise very durable. In both cases, something seems to have failed in the on/off switch on the handle. Here's why I felt compelled to write this review long after I bought this kettle: yes, the switch failed after only 8 months, but this has a 1 year warranty, so I contacted the manufacturer, Mueller, and they replied within hours. Then within 24 hours they shipped me a replacement kettle. I am seriously impressed with the responsiveness and customer service, and totally delighted that I can continue to use this kettle, because I'd be hard pressed to find another one that measures up.

Nice kettle with short lifespan.
We used our kettle fairly heavily over the last 2.5 years and have appreciated its functionality and aesthetics. It holds a lot of water, boils it quickly, and doesn't look bad sitting out on the counter. However, the auto-shutoff switch has a vulnerability that it shares with other, cheaper kettles which is a small, thin, rust-prone piece of metal that deforms when heated. Ours switch broke after 2.5 years of usage, but after disassembling most of the kettle I discovered that it can be replaced fairly easily and I purchased a replacement on Amazon for about $6. Given the failure rate of these switches it would be helpful if these kettle makers included instructions for doing so.
