Helpful resource
I purchased this as a textbook for a Classroom Instruction class for my Masters in Teaching. This is an excellent resource with so much information. I highly recommend reading it outside of assigned homework and know the material!

Cookbook of Classroom Strategies
This is a great book for any teacher regardless of where they are in their career. For beginning teachers it is a valuable resource for teaching strategies. For a teacher in the middle of their career, it is a good tune-up. For a veteran teacher it is a good resource to understanding how teaching is changing and fresh ideas.I would recommend it to anyone interested in instruction and teaching. I especially recommend it for teachers. It provides the research of why the strategies work and what to do with them.

Framework with practices and examples
This book allowed me to review my practice and reorganize my layout for teaching. I enjoyed reading it (a bit repetitive at times, but helps deliver the message). I took notes for processes and ideas that I want to include in my class and classroom.

education text book
This book is required by many college classes. It is fine, just more "reinventing the wheel" eduspeak, nothing earth-shattering.

If you teach, GET THIS BOOK!
This book is the 2nd edition published by McREL Institute and continues the research first reported on by Marzano, PIckering and Pollock in the 1st edition. It is VERY teacher friendly, groups the strategies into 3 categories: Setting the Learning Environment; Accessing Knowledge; Extending Knowledge and provides real-world examples as well as tips for use with "Today's Learners." This is a MUST HAVE for any teacher who is seriously in search of improving his/her instructional practice.

2nd Ed. - Misleading Title
I was told to get "Classroom Instruction That Works: Research-Based Strategies for Increasing Student Achievement" but what I didn't realize is that the 2nd Ed. IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BOOK!!!! 1st Ed. with Marzano was the one I needed. I just figured that the 2nd. Ed. of a book was basically the same book with a few changes & additions, but not in this case. This may be a good book, but find out if you need the Marzano version before actual purchase!!!!!

Evidence for teachers
This is a core text for any teacher who wants to improve the learning of their studentsTeachers need evidence about 'what works' in education to guide us through the minefield of ideas, books, fads and government diktat. Two major studies have been done: this one, under Marzano in Colorado, USA and a much larger one by Hattie, in Auckland, New Zealand. While Hattieās work is more comprehensive, the Colorado team have created something more useful: nine methods to use in the classroom which have been shown to work better than others. In running staff training for teachers in the UK I refer to this book as the authors give practical examples of how to apply the methods in a variety of classrooms. This second edition has taken the sensible step of changing the order from one ranked on effectiveness, to one ranked in the order in which you might use them in a topic. The 'Evidence-Based Teachers Network' (ebtn.org.uk), which links teachers who want to use evidence-based methods and policies in their classrooms and schools, recommends the use of these ten methods. In my own work, I have been able to show why these methods are so effective using jargon-free, brain-based explanations checked with neuroscientists. This is published as a simple e-book: 'How Brain Learn' (available on Amazon).Mike Bell, Education Evidence
