Novie, Interactive Smart Robot with Over 75 Actions and Learns 12 Tricks (Blue), for Kids Aged 4 and Up

This is an adorable little robot that responds fantastically to motion compared to other gesture sensitive robots, even his predecessor, Boxer! The only drawback is his inability to be quiet, as he would make a great toy for quiet play if the sound could be toggled on and off. If you, like me, like to tinker, however, please do not do so with this robot if you'd like him to keep working. His internals are easily damaged, as this one was a replacement for one I'd recently broken by attempting to access the speaker (in order to disable it). Replacing the batteries can also be a chore, because the battery case is very secure. If you want to open it, I recommend a nice pair of needle nose pliers, some patience, and maybe a tool for prying. Be careful not to scratch the plastic, and pull on the screw to open. You may also want to replace the screw itself, as it is a very shallow flat head and quite difficult to unscrew.Obviously I bought this robot for my own specific tinkering purposes, but if you're a parent looking for a nice interactive toy, I recommend this one. He's a lot of fun, his eyes change color, and in free play mode, he'll follow your child's hand across the table or floor. In addition, if you have a more expensive interactive robot, like Vector, Cozmo, or the Novie's counterpart, Boxer, he makes a great playmate. One of my favorite things to do with the Novie is to set him in front of Boxer so the two will sense each other's movements and begin a sort of dance with each other. I assume two Novies will do the same if you're looking for a less expensive robo-playmate!

I bought my 6 year old several "robots" for Xmas and this is the one that held his attention. It's small, simple and make silly noises. The tricks took a youtube tutorial to figure out but for the money this Lil guy nailed it.

Fun little toy. my daughter and her friends love them.Problem with them is the wheels have little black rubber bands ( o-rings )That fall off or get caught up in the wheels. When they get lost it renders the toy useless .I happen to have o-rings that fit on, most people won’t.

I got one of these for my Grandson for Christmas so I got one for myself too! (never had ai robots when I was a kid) The motors burnt out or something so it doesn't move any more, after only a few months. But he's like a "special" little guy now - just sits there and makes funny noises. Then I found a Vector for only $40 so I got another Novie to antagonize him! It's almost like they can hear each other and kind of talk to each other. The new one definitely acts different when the old one is turned on. And the different colored ones act & sound a little different from each other. And they both drive poor Vector nuts! "Get these Neanderthals away from me!"

My eight your old cannot stop playing with his newest robot pal. Easy to use, and "teach" new tricks, this birthday present was a home run. The instructions are simple to read and understand, and come in many different languages. The movie is small, and firs in tgepalm of your hand, but don't let that fool you, it comes with three different levels, making it more interactive. Best used on hard flat surfaces, and I would not suggest using it on carpet. Even the cat got in on the action.

Bought 2 for my grandkids. They both started up right out of the box, but one stopped working after only 10 minutes. I thought maybe one of the batteries came loose so I opened the battery compartment and found all 4 batteries leaking already. I opened up the second one and although that one was still functioning, it too had leaky batteries, but to a lesser degree. Fortunately, I anticipated the kids going through a ton of batteries so I bought a pack of 40 along with the Novies and used them to replace the leaking batteries. They both fired right up and have been working fine. The kids love them, but if they are younger they may have a harder time with the more complicated tricks. The price point is decent, I just wish they would have used quality brand batteries. Had I not opened these up so soon after buying, there may have been some real damage in there!

Had it 3 years still works love it so fun to play with

Although it is a little bit of fun and there are instructions on "teaching" the little tricks and it even has a "personality" and has "feelings", it is very limited in scope.

Supero mis expectativas.

For a younger kid, this is a great little robot. Bought one for each of my kids and they love them. It makes cute robot noises, does tricks, acts silly. A little smaller than I thought, but still overall very cool.

Meine 5- jährige Tochter hat das Ding zu Weihnachten bekommen.Er hat uns allen gefallen. Wir haben uns gut amüsiert. Aber es ist natürlich wie mit allen Spielsachen. Nach einer Weile nicht mehr interessant. Kommt aber bestimmt wieder.Finde für den Preis ein super witziges Roboterchen👍

Great little robot. I bought extra batteries as I was worried they would run out quite quickly. But they have lasted well. The robot itself is small but very entertaining to watch. Fun for the kids to interact with and teach new hand gesture tricks. It's not as mad as the Boxer robot which was abit too much after a while. Good volume level.
