Powerful concepts on body weight training...and pairs perfectly with Convict Conditioning
After following the Convict Conditioning book series and Matt on YouTube for the last several months, I decided to check out this book. I wasn't sure how much 'new' info there would be compared to CC and what I've heard Matt speak about already.Coming from there, I am VERY happy with Grind-Style! It has added much to my thinking and approach to body weight training. If you are already following Convict Conditioning, Grind-Style will enhance your routine. But not by adding more movements! This book will greatly help focus your mind on muscle tension. It will give you a super simple set/rep process so you can keep progressing within a given CC step. And Matt's approach to plateaus will show you how to keep advancing even though you are unable to add reps for a while. If you are not following Convict Conditioning, no worries. Matt lays out a very simple and effective program. Something you can stick to and advance in for a long time. And, Matt's writing style is superb. I couldn't put the book down. I'll be getting more of his books starting with Overcoming Isometrics.

The simple yet super effective routine for Calisthenics and beyond!
I consider Matt of Red Delta Project to be by far one of the top fellas of fitness knowledge and the best source on YouTube too. Right up there with Pavel Tsatsouline's books. Matt provides the best Everyman and Woman take just like talking to a good friend about fitness. And once I knew there was the Grind Style Fitness book coming out I had to add it to the collection.Grind style is about the most dialed in workout method that would be easy for anyone to jump into but could be hardcore challenging for a life time. Matt uses his Grind Style suspension straps but you could use rings or bars too.Really this method trandsends the bodyweight exercises and could easily be used to improve any physical fitness task from powerlifting to bodybuilding with free weights and machines to kettlebells as well as cardio. I think a second book should be in order to really show even more great ways to try the grind style method could be used extremely affectively with other workout disciplines.Grab this amazing book today and get your optimized workout and delightful motivation on, the Grind Style way. Goes fantastic with Matt's previous books as well. I always look forward to what comes next from the Red Delta. Yeah buddy!!!Spencer Scott HolmesThat "Pizza Boyz" comic guy.

The best strength-training book around, for bodyweight training or anything else
If you want to get strong—and you want to do it efficiently, without wasting your time, effort, or money—then buy this book. Schifferle provides a straightforward, evidence-based program for building strength using bodyweight training. He explains the underlying principles well and equips you with the knowledge you need to build a workout program that will work for you. You won't waste your time stretching; you won't waste your time doing some random set of exercises thrown together and called a "workout." Instead, you will learn the basic principles behind building a workout routine, you will learn the best (i.e., most efficient) exercises for building different types of strength, and you will learn how to progress those exercises over time to get stronger and fitter.I've read a lot of books about fitness and exercise, and this is probably my favorite. Too many books are encyclopedias of exercises or lists of poorly explained workout plans. This book is different. It empowers you to design simple and effective workout plans that will build your strength and fitness and that you will be able to stick to over time. For even more information and inspiration, check out Schifferle's website (the Red Delta Project) and Youtube videos. His videos are short and to the point. You might also like Bret Contreras's book Bodyweight Strength Training Anatomy.

Great investment! Extremely detailed instructions on how to perform the movements, Grindstyle!
I would consider this a supplemental reference for Matt Schifferle's Grindstyle Calisthenics Program which he has unapologetically documented extensively on youtube. Easy instructions and amplifications on his techniques to include isometric holds utilizing the WorldFit isostrap and NOSSK Suspension Trainers among others. 13 chapters covering all of the movements in detail and discussion on programming/frequency. Great investment in your fitness/training library. I look forwardto Mr. Schifferle's other training books.

Tension control and bodyweight simplicity at it's best
After over 25 wasted years of "doing" gym machines and last two years addressing my injured knee I somehow stumbled upon Matt's prior work on bodyweight training and the concept of tension control. At first I thought about it as just another bro-science mumbo-jumbo constructed only for stacking the book pages with no real benefit at all, but as I slowly connected the dots on fascinating effects of using the tension control by some century old strongmen with impressive strength and muscle feats when gym machines didn't even existed, and also taking a look into bodyweight training work of Pavel Tsatsouline and Paul Wade, I finally gave it a shot.In less than a year, following Matt's work (and two authors above) my knee doesn't hurt anymore, I am stronger than ever and my joints are no longer stiff and cracky. I can honestly say that my everyday functional strength and mobility are finally put on track I always wanted them to be. What's interesting is a fact that muscle building was just a byproduct of this process, it wasn't my primary goal.IMHO applying the principles from Grind Style Calisthenics is the fastest way to benefit from tension control and bodyweight training in a safe and smart manner. No gym membership required.Highly recommended!

Décevant
Beaucoup trop de texte, très peu de concret et d’illustrations. Très ordinaire

Grinding out the basics
Followed the red Delta Project for a while and liked the straight talking approach in breaking down the science into logical steps without resorting to pseudo science. I gave this four stars rather than 5 because I believe the programme for the first 3 months would be worth including in the book. However, I will say that the four phase approach has many cross over benefits. I noticed while cycling that a focus on mind/muscle control improved my pedalling technique and I could ride faster up hill with the concentration on how the tension was being applied on each side as I pedalled. I would recommend this book because it provides a good grounding in calisthenics to enable you to move on to more technical capabilities with the correct basic strength chain.

Practically, spot on.
Expectations often dictate how you enjoy a book. If you want technical discussion and citations of peer-reviewed studies, don't expect it from this.Fortunately, this book never offers that! Instead, it delivers on what it proposes, and that's a practical guide. The great news is that the approach is sound from a technical perspective. I love the fact the author clearly has the grounding to defend his approach in technical language, but chooses not to do so! This is a super helpful book for all levels who just want to get into training, stay injury free and get stronger. Thanks from an S&C coach with 10 years of work at elite level sports 💪🏼
