Palatable and Protein Packed
I've tried a few protein powders over the years, and this is the only one I have found that agrees with my gut.It is plant based, relying mainly on pea protein (instead of whey) in addition to many sprouted seeds, grains (though gluten free) and beans. The vanilla flavor (there are other flavors and varieties) is my go-to, and there is NO sugar + a respectable amount of probiotics. A healthy 22grams of protein in a serving is a simple way to add nutrition to smoothies AND baked goods!

Exceptional
Exceptional, I’m so shocked at how great the taste is , especially since it’s dairy free. I was prepared for chalky or just a bad tasting product. I’m very happy with it ingredients and the taste.

Flavor needs some help but it works
Taste is pretty rough for me I'm going to be honest. Blending it in smoothies doesn't really help unless you add sugar or some kind of heavy sweetener. Over all it's a good product for what I'm using it for, but be wary if you can't mask that flavor.

DON'T BUY THIS OR ANY Garden of Life products!
I am so disgusted and appalled by the findings of extremely HIGH AND DANGEROUS levels of heavy metals in the Garden of Life products. I literally clicked purchase on a canister of the chocolate raw protein powder yesterday...and I noticed an increase in 1 star reviews- I started reading and did some research and within an hour CANCELLED my order! I have been a dedicated consumer of Garden of Life products for 3 years. Having an autoimmune disease, I have gone to great lengths to eat as healthy and clean as possible and have used their powders as supplements in the morning and when traveling (nearly daily for 3 years)...and to think they could be contributing to my condition is leveling. What is worse is the original research findings, article and related links have nearly all been taken down or changed. This move to me completely puts Natural News (who originally reported the data) and Garden of Life's credibility in poor light. They are now reporting a "collaboration on stricter standards and practices.."..blah..blah. Praising them for their amazing "PR" move is wearisome. An agreement for better standards is great..if it even happens (which is now the only thing being reported even by the original "watch dog" who broke the research for the public)...but having been a part of similar "agreements" in various industries as a marketing and strategy partnership professional...it is actually quite laughable. They need to pull their products off shelves, do a recall for the ones out there with refunds, apologize and take true responsibility. Shame on them also for "not knowing their farmers" as well as they should. If this were another industry (auto, oil, airline, toy industry)..the mainstream media and public would be carrying pitchforks and torches...it baffles me how big and deep the cover-ups go in the food industry and Garden of Life should fall from grace because of this. Shame on Amazon as well for continuing to support and sell their products. If this were a child's toy covered in heavy metals- everyone would be crying for blood from this company. I am as disappointed as everyone else who loved their products..and I desperately didn't want to believe it..as I was drinking my protein shake yesterday and hitting "buy" on Amazon...and noticed this information. Thank you other reviewers for pointing this out.I hope Garden of Life gets sued.....and they lose marked business from this...they have lost me and I will do ALL I can to let others know not to buy their products.Thank you.

Chocolate Tastes Like Maple Syrup
The headline says it all - mostly.I did a lot of research before choosing this protein powder. And was exited to try it as soon as it arrived. I dipped my nose in the container, took a whiff... "Hmm... smells like maple syrup." Checked the label - "Chocolate". I was sure it would *taste* like chocolate. So I added a cup of water and a scoop of the protein to my Vitamix and did a quick blend to test it. It tasted just like it smelled, like mayple syrup! And it wasn't very smooth - a bit gritty, not a lot.So I decided to doctor it up. I added two tablespoons of Cocao powder, 1 date, 5 pieces of frozen banana and some ice into my Vitamix, and gave it a good blending. This new recipe seemed to further enhance the maple taste.I used to exercise a lot at gyms, then at home, and would drink Optimum Nutrition's Bulk protein powder (forgot the name), and that chocolate version was very smooth and tasty. Then I got old, and was exercising less and adopted a Vegan diet. I was making shakes with pea protein addding the Cacao, date, and frozen bananas, when my wife introduced me to a vegan protein powder by Just Ingredients, Roasted Chocolate flavor. That was pretty good, but I still incorporated the other ingredients because dates and bananas are good for you, and I like the dark chocolate flavor.THEN: Just Ingredients decided to change and remove the Roasted Chocolate to just Chocolate and the stevia flavor was overwhelming and I couldn't take it - plus somehow it didn't make as much. So I went searching and decided on Garden of Life. I had been scouring the internet, reading reviews on all vegan offering, but after watching a woman's review on Amazon, how she loves it, and using only water, my descision was made. And here we are. I tried it again a couple of hours ago. I used a cup of almond milk this time and a splash of water. Nope! same results. And I thought, "Do I taste *any* chocolate?" No, I don't. Isn't that weird? How can that be? Why am I singed out, being the only one I've read, who think it tastes like maple syrup? I also has a hint of stevia on the back of my tongue. We all have different sensory experiences ... some think cilantro tastes like soap, while others just don't like it. Some people see a blue and yellow dress, while others see the same dress as black and purple. The ingredients and benefits of this protein is also what sold me. But to experience those benefits one has to drink it, and I'm having a hard time with that. There's no returning it. My wife asked me to try vanilla extract to mask the flavor, or peanut butter, but I'm not keen on those flavors either. Nevertheless, I'll keep trying. There's 20 servings per container. I've got 18 to go!
