Simple and excellent Siemens components.
It made my job so much easier, for transferring the electric power from photovoltaic/wind turbine to the public grid on cloudy and windless days and/or at night.

Simple affordable switch
Works exactly as described. I had this added in when i had a new breaker panel installed. It needs to have a certified electrician and inspection as part of the install. Great price, arrived early, now I have options to kill the utility power and switch to generator power.

Basically good with a few problems
The MTS is made of heavy gauge steel and the circuit breakers are a good name brand. The position of the grounding bus in the box is not very good and I moved it to a better position. However, when I was clearing one of the knockouts parts of the CB mounting hardware fell out. A screw was not properly installed so I had to dismantle the CB holder to fix it. My biggest complaint is the terrible customer service. Most electrical panel boards are labeled with basic information on the temperature rating of the various lugs and circuit breakers and if they are suitable for both aluminum and copper conductors. This MTS does not list this information and when I got in touch with customer service they were absolutely clueless on this point. They finally told me that this information was company confidential and that I was out of luck. The is absolute nonsense since it is a basic, fundamental characteristic of the MTS. I was able to determine what I needed to know but I should not have had to do that. If Generac fails on this basic point what else do they do poorly?

YOU ALMOST KILLED ME!
You Almost Killed Me!!! Let me first say that the switch is well made and operation is foolproof. Construction and operation gets 5 stars. HOWEVER, the one you sent me had clearly been used. It was in good condition minus a few scratches and a missing neutral wire. I don't mind that it was used so long as it worked. I should have been suspicious at this point. I hooked it up according to the wiring diagrams after installing the neutral wire and fired up the generator. As soon as I touched the switch case I was hit with 110 volts of electricity. I'm in good physical condition and was wearing rubber soled shoes but that hurt!!! I checked my generator and cable with no discrepancies. I opened the switch to see if it had shorted inside. Nothing. I disassembled the switch to check for wiring problems and that's when I found it. Whoever had it prior wired the generator hook up wrong sending 110 volts straight to the switch frame instead of to the load. The plug was already wired so I didn't think to check it. I doubt the factory sent this out that way. You could have been facing a wrongful death law suit at minimum with a possible negligent homicide or manslaughter charge. I don't even want to consider the possibility of being premeditated. I'm fine and you're lucky I don't have any medical bills because of the mis-wiring. I will say that after fixing all your screw-ups the switch is working flawlessly. To everyone else, CHECK YOUR WIRING BEFORE INSTALLING or have a knowledgeable electrician check it for you. Honestly, whoever did this, what were you thinking???

Used as a high current DPDT switch.
I needed a 30 amp DPDT switch to switch between a clothes dryer in my basement and one on the first floor. The circuit breaker box was full and I connected the existing dryer circuit to the common poles of the transfer switch. The transfer switch was then able to switch between dryers. Although the the transfer switch is rated at 60 amp the 30 amp breaker in the breaker box protected both dryer circuits. The switch worked as it should and is convenient to use.

Does exactly what it's supposed to..
I needed a 100 amp transfer switch for my workshop so I could switch between the Utility Company & my off-grid solar setup whenever I need to. This works just as expected, it's a manually operated switch and I am very satisfied with it.

Careful, Picture Misleading
I'm an electrician and was installing a manual transfer switch with up to 4 circuits for a small portable generator.According to this picture it seems there are 4 spaces available for breakers and typically in an installation like this they will make it tandems, so possibly up to 8 spots.Problem: What you see is what you get and what you can do. Those are dummy spots. That entire massive box is strictly for service in / service out. There is no bus-bar for additional breakers.Pro: Its cheaper than a full manual transfer switch kit and you can simply add a small sub panel off of this transfer switch.Con: Additional work with additional box installation for breakers.

Works well
We had it installed by a licensed electrician to switch between our main backup generator for our off-grid solar home to another generator (a backup for our backup). Simple design and seems to work well, and was a great price.

Transfer switch is a must
Transfer switches are very important if you want to run your house of a generator in a power outage as it is essentially an interlock to prevent you backfeeding the utility grid, and potentially electrocuting a linesman. Now that I bought and installed this, I guarantee my power will never go out again. I set this up to run a subpanel off either utility or generator, and it works great (in testing anyway, havent had another power outage!).If you need to change breaker sizes in this its easy to do, they are standard siemens type q breakers. So I took one of the 100A breakers out and put a 30A for my small generator, this allowed me to run a much smaller cable to the garage and be properly protected. I then used the spare 100A breaker in my main panel to feed the utility of this transfer switch, saving me buying an expensive 100A breaker!Strongly recommend if you are not comfortable working inside your breaker box you get a pro to do this for you however, as it is a big job, especially if like mine, all your branch circuit wires are too short to reach the subpanel, and need to be extended.
