Good for beginners
I've looked at many books for beginning hand mending and this was the best book I found. It is not exactly what I hoped for, but it is closer than anything else I found.

Good for a beginner
It is a very good book for the beginning person who wants to learn. The only issue I have is that some of the pictures will not load so I don't have a visual to compare my work to.

Good Knowledge
I read the whole thing, has some really cool stitching, but it made me realize I needed fabric tape and not to sew.

fair
I being a guy who wanted to learn a little sewing to make repairs enjoyed reading this book but it is only good for beginners. First she only showed you a few stitches you can use and I would have liked to see a few more stitches added but this is a beginning text for those who have never done this before. It is a great place to start but you get through it quickly. The pictures sucked bad but I don't blame author but blame the printer for that. They are still use able but could be a lot better. I would recommend this for pure beginners or guys who know nothing but you will have to get further books to become more than a novice.

sewing intro
I was looking for a really ,really simple step by step introduction to sewing. Like how to thread and knot a needle and thread.

I like this book
I will keep this book for ever. It has pics and directions on how to make certain stiches. For a beginner, it has basic sewing information. Great for beginning sewers.

Text (print) is way too small!!!!
Recently, I showed a 9-year-old how to fix a hole in one of his socks. He was ecstatic and started "fixing holes" (with needle and thread, of course) in other clothing items. I bought him a really good sewing kit--needles, threads, scissors, tap measure, etc. Then, I came across this book and it looked like it would be good for this young beginner!First, the print is WAY TOO SMALL. The introduction is WAY TOO LONG. The pictures should be larger and in color! If I were a beginning sewer and I saw this book, I would stop sewing.I'm am so sorry, as I love to give positive ratings. Just must be honest with how I feel.

A little confused here
I bought this book because I wanted to learn how to sew by hand a little better , but I think something got lost somewhere , the book just starts talking about how to hold your fabric and it starts with chapter 4 , am I missing something here , is there a book that comes before this or is the book split into two separate volumes or did the author just assume a person would automatically know what she was talking about , over all I'd say this book is a bit confusing with no real instructions at the beginning of it and just kind of jumping right in with no explanation . I don't like to give negative reviews if I can avoid it , but this definitely can't be avoided and If I could , I'd give it no stars , but I guess one star will have to do .
