Easy to use and effective.
I used the Retrofit kit a few days ago to charge my previously R-12 A/C system. Since I did a vacuum for 1 hour on the system to check for leaks before using the kit, my retrofit didn't quite go as the instructions indicate. I assume the retrofit kit instructions assume an empty R-12 system and not a system at a 28+ inches of mercury system vacuum. The psi gauge was all over the place as I began filling the system with the first can (with the A/C shut off) causing me to stop and call the toll free number for help. After emptying the first can in the system, I then started my truck and started using the second can of refrigerant. Towards the end of the second can, the clutch on the compressor starting engaging for longer and longer before shutting off. I stopped after 2 cans (even though I expected to use all 3 cans and perhaps a fourth since my R12 fill was 44 oz. and I expected my R134a fill to be 35 oz) since the pressure gauge was entering the orange part of the scale. A few days later I started the truck, checked the pressure and it was back in the blue part of the scale near the low end. I started filling the system with the 3rd can and stopped when the psi gauge reached 40 psi. My truck's A/C is blowing cold air just in time for a warmup in the temperature.

Buyer be aware
The refrigerant was fine and worked but it’s just refrigerant and should. The problem is that the seller states 3 cans and there was only one in the box and after reading reviews this is how it seems to be. My fault for not reading them first. Shame on seller for scamming people. Value for the money and honesty buy the pro air

Accidentally purchased this for a new charge (not a recharge), but it worked out just fine.
I mistakenly purchased this to charge a new system from a vacuum. I had to fix my mom's a/c in her car, which involved a new compressor kit. Basically, everything except the hoses (which had been recently replaced) had to be replaced. I have recharged low systems, but this was my first complete reinstall. I took off the old parts and flushed the system, vacuumed it out to achieve negative pressure as specified, and while that was going on, I looked back on here for tips on how to use it the best way. That's when I saw that this product is meant as a recharge, not a new charge. Uh oh. I didn't know what to do, but decided to go ahead and pressurize the system with this. The first can emptied almost instantly (I suppose due to the vacuum of the system). The second can took a while. I was only able to add in perhaps 3/4 of the second can and the system was showing to be properly charged for the temperature at the time and the system was blowing cold air again. It worked as a new charge! I'm sure it's not recommended as such, but it is working for me.

MY PACKAGE HAD ONLY ONE CAN
THE ITEM IS DESCRIBED AS INCLUDING 3 12 oz CANS - MY PACKAGE HAD ONLY ONE CAN. IT SHOULD ALSO HAVE A 'HOW-TO' CD-ROM INCLUDED AND THAT ISN'T THERE EITHER. EVEN THE PRODUCT PACKAGE SHOWS 3 CANS ON IT. THIS WAS A WASTE OF MONEY FOR ME AND I'M ANGRILY DISAPPOINTED.

Saved my AC in Arizona!
My 89 Honda Accord AC stopped blowing cold air several years ago, but living in San Francisco I hardly used it. Then I decided to move to Arizona (save your comments) so I needed to get my AC working 100%. I bought this kit and it has pumped out cold air with no issues for over 1 yr now. And not only has it worked well, it has worked in the hottest conditions possible in Arizona! The "retrofit" is really just adding 2 adapters onto your existing AC intake valves (for cars pre-1994). You have to release any existing R12 out of your system before you add the new 134 refrigerant. I only used 2 out of the 3 cans initially and still have the third for future use. This is a very simple setup with helpful instructions. I highly recommend this for any older cars needing their AC working again and I just bought another kit for my sister with a '92 Civic.

Can't recommend this kit
Can't recommend this kit. Maybe A/C Pro is better. The price was right, but apparently the gauge was defective, because even though I watched the video, read the directions, read the comments here and online, I still managed to over-charge the system. The needle slowly move from insufficient r134a to just barely enough after 2 cans. It took at least 15 minutes per can because they only give you 1' of hose and my low-pressure connection was fairly deep in the engine compartment meaning it was not possible to move the can from 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock and shake it at the same time, so I did my best I turned the engine off and let it set for while because it was getting hot. When I came out to start the 3rd can, it also started to only move the needle on the gauge slowly up towards the recommended zone. But suddenly, it jumped into the black zone indicating overcharge, and the A/C clutch was now disengaged and would only engage for a second or two. I went online and confirmed that this was a sign of overcharging so I bled the system until the clutch would stay engaged. Maybe I was just unlucky to get a defective gauge, or maybe this happens to others. For this or any other kit I would say that as soon as the air coming from the vents gets cold, only put a little more in and then stop. Drive the car for a day or two and then see if the air stays cool. You can always add more, but having too much can damage the A/C components.

Missing Parts
Product description is for three cans and the retro kit. I received one can and the retro kit for this price. I am not able to do a return for some reason per their policy so I got ripped off. I highly do not recommend.
