YAMAHA YVC-200 Portable USB & Bluetooth Speakerphone, Hold Meetings Anywhere, Noise Reducing Conference Phone with 10-Hour Rechargeable Battery Life

For my job, I am on conference calls a lot. I am also on the road a lot. I was shopping for a portable bluetooth mic/speaker and this one caught my attention because of the brand name and look and decided to give it a try. It exceed my expectation. I also have two others bluetooth mic/speaker and this one is the best among those. My only complain is the mic pickup too well and I have to make sure I conduct my conference call in a quiet environment.

I tried this (Yamaha UC YVC-200) and the Jabra Speak 510. This had both better microphone reception and much better speaker sound than the Jabra. Voice was clearer on the other side and the sound coming out of the speaker is much clearer and louder on the Yamaha than the Jabra. The sound coming out of the Jabra sounded dull (high frequencies filtered out) and made it very uncomfortable FOR ME to use on calls (I have a very sensitive ear). I was looking for a speaker phone where the sound was more full spectrum and clear. The Yamaha served that purpose.

I received this as a gift from my husband when setting up teletherapy for my speech therapy practice. He gave me the white one, which is really attractive on my desk. I don't think I have ever seen a white desktop speaker before!Use of headphones is highly recommended for providing speech therapy services due to the need for clarity. However, I was concerned about the children I work with being distracted by seeing me wear them on video. Also, I find headphones uncomfortable when worn for an extended period of time. The YVC200 has solved this problem for me. Not only can my clients hear me well, the audio from the speaker is way better than the speaker from my PC.Another benefit, between sessions I can stream music from the speaker via Bluetooth. With the battery in it, I can take it outside and listen to music on the deck. It is small, lightweight and portable, and has a nice carrying case. I look forward to taking it with me when I travel to conferences to use as a speaker phone in my hotel room.Set up was extremely easy and it has worked flawlessly!

Originally, I bought this product to play DnD with my friends, when some of us were virtual (over discord) and some were in-person. This speakerphone worked fine for that for the first few months, but after a while, the quality really dropped off. "You sound like you're underwater"; "You're really muffled". The microphone inside definitely has directions where it is better at picking up sound, which doesn't help when we're all seated around a table. Recently I ended up buying a new blue yeti microphone off of Facebook Marketplace and that has been a much better purchase for less than half of the price.I only really used this speakerphone wired, because there is a drop in quality when switching to bluetooth. However, this is a limitation of bluetooth technology overall, and will be present in all speakerphones. What I have enjoyed about this speakerphone is that it can be connected to my computer through bluetooth and the cable, and when I unplug it the switch to bluetooth connection is seamless.The reason I bought this speakerphone over others was because of YouTube videos that showcased the different mic options from the top competing speakerphones, and this one sounded the best for the price. However, it really hasn't held up in practice to those expectations when using it over Discord. Now, my built-in laptop mic sounds better.I've left this review at 2 stars instead of 1 star because the bluetooth works fine, and the built-in noise cancellation works well for me in my office. My air conditioner blows very loudly, but when I use this microphone, no one can hear it (while they could on different mics). So, that works well.
