As described. Pretty fun gift! It runs on battery or plug in and has a mode to run through the colors automatically. It will only pick up obvious and bright colors so something like magenta or red orange will look different and brighter but it's pretty fun. Much larger than I expected, I imagined a small handheld lizard and he's a full size toy. I think this is safe for younger kids too because the toy is a rubbery and slightly bendable plastic so they're not as likely to get hurt running around with it.

This is really one of the coolest things I have seen in a while. I really like to keep myself on the forefront of technology, always reviewing emerging technologies and gadgets every day. Honestly I saw this light about a year ago before it was available on the market and wanted one. Well, after some time I had forgot about it until I was looking for gifts for my daughter's 7th birthday. I saw this on Amazon and had to have it (I think I wanted it more for me to play with). My daughter opened it on her birthday and didn't really know what it was or what to do with it. Once I showed her that it could change to any color that she put it on, she didn't put it down for about 2 hours. She was running around the house testing every color she could find. Now she puts it on Demo mode (which cycles through all the colors) and uses it as a night light on her bed. This toy/light tops her favorite toys; she likes this more than the Barbie dolls and other girly toys she received.

my grandson loved this. played with it for several months, now it sets on his night stand and he uses it for a night light/flash light, at times.

This was a gift for my 15 year old daughter and I wasn't sure she would enjoy it, simply because she is a teenager but- OMG! It is SO awesome! She absolutely loves it and all her friends are trying to get one now too.Huey was a lot bigger than I expected him to be, which is a good thing. Best money I've spent in a long time. He's the cutest little chameleon & does exactly what he's supposed to. He got stuck on the red color one time but after changing the batteries he was back to his old color changing self.

We have had Huey since March 2012 and he is been on pretty much non-stop since then. We use him as a nightlight for my son, and rarely turn him off. We change his color every couple of nights and all of the colors are still working with no issues. My son loves to be able to chose a new color every few nights, he usually chooses one out of a book. We do have times where we have Huey on a color with a reflective surface and he turns white, but have found if we just lift it off the surface a little bit it works just fine. Our only complaint is that he is a bit bright for a nightlight but that is easily solved by slightly blocking the light. He has been working great and non-stop for 2 years!

My son asked for a chameleon for Christmas and I wasn't going to get a live one (he's 4) so this was a great little compromise. Love it's a night light and it does glow for basic colors. It was a little expensive in my book hence the 3 stars but overall my son likes it.

I bought Huey the chameleon because my class of two-year-olds was discussing things that change colors. The reviews looked great, so I splurged. And Huey was worth every penny! The LED sensors on the bottom really do detect the color Huey is sitting on and for blue, red, pink and yellow, Huey changes into a bright shade. Other colors work, too, but they're just not as bright. And when we gently dragged Huey over our multi-colored rug, he changed colors rapidly, much to my children's delight. When Huey is on "random" mode, they practice identifying their colors by shouting out what color Huey is turning. My children ask for Huey every day and enjoy finding things in our classroom for Huey to "hide" on! Definitely a fantastic purchase; thank you GreenTech International Ltd.!

No one who sees Huey in our house can resist playing with him. He's a soft little lamp that holds up well to the abuse of my four year old and husband, who may be even worse. We've had him for a few months now and he still works just as well as when he came out of the box. He comes with a color wheel chart, but it's more fun to see all the colors he will turn from things around the house. Every night after reading, we place him on a book so our son can pick the color he wants to use as his night light. This product is really fun and has held up so well - I'd recommend it to anyone of any age!
