Great Product, even better customer support!!
I bought the Tonton 1080P Security Camera System Wireless, 8CH NVR Recorder with 2TB HDD and 4PCS 2.0 MP Outdoor Indoor Bullet Wireless IP Cameras with PIR SensorI knew from researching and checking out other peoples, mostly my friends systems that motion detection isn’t a solution where I live. Were in the high foothills where there are a lot of trees, shadows, etc. Get a little breeze and every camera comes alive trying to tell you about it.Through my research, this is the only system I found that has PIR (Passive Infrared) which detects heat, at an affordable price. It’s very similar to the detection system used on trail cameras so it just detects animals, people, cars etc. The bottom line is with PIR, your false alerts and event recordings will be greatly minimized as compared to just the motion detection systems.I hooked everything like its shows in the quick user’s guide and very limited manual that it comes with. I just set up everything up on my desk where my computer is and everything came on. It was truly plug and play. I actually use my computer monitor and just switch back and forth between video inputs. So knowing this all worked, I went ahead and mounted my cameras where I wanted and of course supplied them with power. Now I will admit, getting familiar with the software takes a little bit of time and testing to get it fine-tuned to your specific situation and needs. Here’s where there customer supports kicks in. There’s a person on their end named Abby that I dealt with. We did everything through email, I’d ask a question or very many questions and Abby would respond with answers and solutions by the next day. I have never had customer support that was that responsive and helpful!!So bottom line,1) The cameras have great resolution. I can read drivers license plates, see faces etc. Very happy with that2) The PIR minimizes false alerts tremendously3) The WiFi range of the cameras to NVR is very impressive. I was surprised. They have more range than my routers WiFi to my smart devices.4) The customer support is outstanding and will get you through the install.I would recommend this product to anyone, and already have, that wants an affordable PIR detection type security camera system.

Best of the bunch
I actually setup 4 camera systems and then returned them before buying this Tonton system. I had a set of specs I required and bought cameras that appeared to meet those specs. I found incorrect claims, difficult software, balky hardware, and unresponsive customer service before ordering Tonton. This system had the easiest setup by far. And I actually had to fend off the offers to help from Tonton's customer support. For my needs the cons are 1.) the antenna extender is useless, 2.) the PIR sensors seem uneven (some are more sensitive than others and I had to swap camera positions to use them appropriately), 3.) the monitoring software needs an android simulator to run on windows (it runs just fine on android devices. The pros are plentiful - great picture, good night vision, you can avoid a monthly subscription cost, hardware seems robust, software is semi-intuitive. I was an IT professional so perhaps it is easier for me - but I would note that Tonton would do well to hire a native English speaker to write their documentation. Some of it is difficult to decipher to the point you may as well discard it and just play with the parameters. All i all, a good investment that fulfills its mission

Good system, easy to setup, motion sensor a big plus
I purchased this 4-camera wireless system and subsequently purchased 4 additional wireless cameras to max out its capacity. The system supports connecting the cameras via wireless transmission or hard-wired with Ethernet Cat5e. Overall the system works well, here are my observations:1) Easy to setup2) Decent picture quality via wireless, better picture quality via hard wired. I couldn't read license plates from passing cars but can recognize people and pets I'm already familiar with.3) There's a picture lag via wireless connection, much less lag via hard wired connection.4) Night vision is pretty good, about 60'5) Motion detection alerts are much better with this system than other systems because of the infrared sensor, which is why I purchased it. This helps to reduce the number of false motion detection alarms, but not 100%. I don't think any system in this price range can give 100% accurate infrared motion detection, but this system does a pretty good job. The infrared motion detection range is somewhat limited to +/- 20'.6) The base station is installed inside the house (close to an outside wall) with all the cameras being installed outside around a large property, so wireless transmission distance was important to me. Note that the only obstruction between the base station and the outdoor cameras was one house exterior wall. The maximum operating distance between the base station and a camera I experienced was about 150', but there was very noticeable picture lag (averaging 5 seconds, sometimes longer, sometimes shorter). Cameras closer to the base station has less lag, maybe 1/2 second to 2 seconds.7) I still want/need to install some of the cameras 300' away and have purchased the necessary Cat5e cable to accomplish this via a hard-wired implementation, but time constraints have prevented that work so far.8) I tried using Tonton's long-range antenna to obtain a greater wireless distance but it didn't help (I actually observed a weaker signal from the camera at the base station versus the expected stronger signal). Since I'm a person that will try every permutation to solve a problem, I ordered a set of 3 additional Tonton long-range antennas in case the provided long-range antenna was defective. Unfortunately, I had the same result with those additional 3 long-range antennas and returned them.9) Tech support is via email or text messaging with a friendly person located in Hong Kong.10) The base station user interface is fine for setup, live viewing and playback, it could use some improvements but its generally good enough.11) The cloud-based remote viewing is via a third-party service provider (I forgot the name).12) The smart phone app is not TonTon's. You need to use a free app from another company to remotely view the camera feeds and receive motion alerts. The iOS apps I'm aware of are: EseeCloud, iSmKit. They both pretty much look and work the same. I believe those same apps are available for Android phones.13) The power cords supplied for each camera are very short, so consider that you may need to waterproof them depending upon your specific installation requirements. Note that each camera requires electrical power to operate.14) The cameras must be mounted with the antenna facing up since the system doesn't support rotating the image. The camera mounts are 3 axis to handle most mounting situations.Overall, the system is allowing me to monitor the outside of my property. I would prefer less picture lag but I feel I'm pushing the system to its limits due to the need to install the cameras so far from the base station due to my specific requirements. That pretty much sums up my observations, hope this information is helpful for you. Cheers!

Really nice wifi security cameras.
I would definitely recommend these cameras. 4 cameras, 8 channel NVR, and 2tb hardrive are certainly more than most offers come with. The 4 cameras are solidly built and seem watertight. They are metal, not plastic. My house has white trim so the white cameras blend in well but are still noticeable. I’ve mounted 2 outside already and have the other 2 sitting in windows until my backyard is fenced so I can determine the positioning I want.Setup was as easy as plugging everything in and running an HDMI cable to my TV. The cameras connect as soon as they’re plugged into the wall socket (important to note, wireless refers to the camera feed, not power! So many negative reviews on wifi security are because people didn’t realize the cameras would need to be plugged in). The hard drive was formatted and ready to record onto.I mounted one camera at my front door and one over my driveway. For both, I put a 7/8” hole into the framing of my house (had to be that big for the optional network cord to go into the wall) and ran the power cable into the interior to a 110v plug. In my garage I needed a longer power cable so I purchased some 22AWG speaker wire and spliced the line longer. I calculated the current and amperage and figure 22AWG should be good enough for about 7 ft extra cord length. The cameras have had no drop in power and all functions continue to work. The two sitting in windows work fine during the day, but obviously when the IR lights kick on at night they bounce off the window glass and render the cameras useless. But the outdoor cameras’ night vision is clear as day. Remember you can’t read license plates with night visions; the plates glow white. But you can get vehicle descriptions and clear faces so it’s still great.I set up a motion alarmed section of the front door camera so I get an email notification when someone approaches my door, but not when cars drive by. It works well with Gmail but you have to turn off 2 factor authorization and enable less secure apps in your gmail settings on the sender email. I used a throwaway email address for my sender email because my mail gmail has 2 factor security. The app for the phone is adequate. It has basic functionality and is designed to work with many different systems. It has movement and zoom controls, but these cameras don’t have that. However pinch and zoom works when watching live feed and recording. The app shows recording of the last day from midnight on. To see previous days you’ll need to go onto the NVR itself. It was easy to switch the camera to AV stream instead of just video, so now I can hear my front door through the app, however I could not get the microphone to work to speak to the person at the door. This wasn’t a critical aspect for me so I’m not worried about it. I’d rather hear the guys casing my place talking amongst themselves than say hello to a delivery guy.I hope these are good sellers on Amazon because I’d love to see them add the cameras individually for sale. Having 4 cameras on an 8 channel NVR makes me think of all the other angles I could be recording. I’m guessing most onvif cameras would be compatible but I’d rather they all look the same.

The night vision LEDs are red visible light
The cameras give a clear image. The features are better than most other products. The nighttime LEDs are visible red light which can be seen by intruders and attracts bugs and therefore spiders. The pir function helps a bit with eliminating false alarms but does not work that well. Customer service was good at first but when they couldn't help me with firefox browser issues replies to my questions stopped.

Damaged and defective
Product came obviously used and returned as there was damage noticed on the modem station as well as the camera lights or sensors were pushed completely inside the camera housing. The antenna was stretched so far only the plastic molding was in tact but the wire was stripped. I will be returning. This was a waste of time now, I really needed these operational this week. Having a dislike for a product is one thing but shipping out a defective or returned unit that cost $500 is a joke. The packaging was completely intact and no signs of damage upon delivery. Do not take a chance and waste time and money like I did. Going to have to try another route now. Hopefully I can find some other options.
