Asobu Mighty Flask Insulated Water Bottle, 40 oz, Blue

This is my fourth purchase from the Asobu brand and I've always been impressed with their products. My original purchase was their Central Park bottle which performed so flawlessly that I purchased two more as gifts and they were an instant hit. It blows my mind how long these items keep the beverages cold - even while sitting in a hot vehicle in the direct summer sun. It literally is like you just got the beverage from the refrigerator even several hours later. My Dad, who was one of the gift recipients, even called me one day to tell me that he'd forgotten his bottle on the porch one day and 7 hours later, it was still cold.Even though I was so thoroughly pleased with the central park bottle, I needed something larger to share between my husband and I when we take our laps around the neighborhood in this summer heat. I tried a different brand but was sadly disappointed after being spoiled by Asobu.Luckily, I found this mighty flask. It performs just as I have come to expect from this brand and it holds a ton! We've yet to drain it dry while we each guzzle from it during a 3-4 mile walk in 90+ degree heat. I like that the lid has a half-inch or so loop on it, as it's easy to carry on one or two fingers as we walk, and it's not too heavy to do this. The lid itself can be a bit picky about getting seated right to screw on appropriately, but you get used to that. I can tell you, however, that one drop onto a hard surface will scuff the paint pretty good-especially on an outside surface. Obviously, though, this doesn't affect the performance, just how pretty it is. :) Also, it likely will not sit in your car's cup holder due to how fat the bottom is, if this is something you prefer.Overall, I would definitely recommend this brand especially, as well as this flask. Will keep your drinks cold for hours - even longer if you keep the bottle in the fridge to prep it for use. This actually will serve to refrigerate your drinks to an even colder level than they are when you first pour them in - it's fantastic!

I've had this for a while now and I am really enjoying it.Previously, I owned a 32 oz. Hydro Flask and that was really great. Unfortunately, I misplaced it.I prefer The Mighty Flask (MF) over the Hydro Flask (HF). Here are some of their differences:- The MF seemed to keep my water colder for longer than the HF. I did not test this scientifically but I use this to keep cold water next to me while I sleep at night and the water in the MF seems to be colder than the HF when I wake up.- My HF would build up a weird stench near the opening after I used it for more than 24-48 hours. It was a mildew-like smell and I washed it literally every day. I do not have this issue with the MF.- The matte black color on the MF was a mistake. If I leave it in the sun I basically can't pick it up because it's taken on so much warmth. My HF was the brushed chrome/silver color and I didn't like that because it showed tons of fingerprints, etc.- The insulating gap between the layers of metal on the MF seems to be smaller than the HF. If I bump the MF against my leg I can hear the metal layers colliding inside. This did not happen with the HF.- The lack of branding on the MF is what sold me. I don't want your brands plastered all over my products and The Might Flask does a great job of minimalising their branding.

I wouldn't expect multi-day ice cold results. However I will tell you that the first time I used it I filed it with about 60-70% ice, put room temp water in it then put it in the a black box on my motorcycle and rode for 4 hours in 100 degree weather (it being in the black box meant at least part of the bottle was above 100 degrees, used it several times. Then the next morning most of the ice was melted but the water was still ice cold. It then sat for another 24 hours without being used and when I was ready to leave the water was still below room temp. I'd call that pretty decent of a product. Ps. I did not see any rust pots. The only for the 4 stars is I question the quality of the lid a little and it's not the easiest to take off with one hand due to the strap.

I bought this as I wanted a LARGE capacity water bottle that you can easily add ice and clean that I could take to the beach and it stay cold. They got all but the last part.Large capacity. At 40oz, it’s bigger than most double insulated bottlesWide mouth for easy cleaning. I can easily clean as I can get a wand dish sponge in there just like a normal albeit long glass.Add normal size ice. I can easily load this up with ice without needing the ice to be small or even having to drop one at a time.Stays cold for extended period. Depends on environment but ultimately no. It will keep ice over 12 hours if you don’t open it much, are in moderate temps and not in the sun. I did some tests starting with filling it with ice to top and added water.Test 1: Left it out in house and didn’t open it for 24 hours.Results: Ice was only 1/3 gone at end of test.Test 2: Used at work/home, opening and drinking from it.Results: Water stayed cold all day but with less than 1/2 the ice left after 12 hours. The more you open and the less full it is the faster the ice melts.Test 3: At the beach in 90 heat and direct sun, ice didn’t last in this for more than 4 hours. I did not keep the lid off; in fact, I opened it as infrequently as possible.If you are not adding a lot of ice, I don’t think this would keep drinks cold long. I did not try this for hot beverages but don’t think it would work well. I would also be concerned with very hot liquids damaging the plastic lid and rubber seal.

INITIAL THOUGHTSThis thing is huge! I didn't really know what to expect but check the attached photo for yourself, this thing is giant! The seal seems very tight and the stainless steel feels sturdy (but not too heavy) and fits nicely in my hand.PROS✓ 40 Oz Capacity -> This bottle can hold about 1200 ml or 2 and 2/5 water bottles worth. I am an avid hiker myself and sometimes we don't come back down to civilization for over 4 days and maybe only run into a fresh water source once a day. With that being said, I used to always run out of water and sometimes, on very hot days, have gotten extremely dehydrated to the point where I was close to fainting. I went on a 4-hour hike today (in about 40-degree weather) and this thing not only kept me hydrated throughout the hike, but the water stayed ICE cold. Awesome.✓ Amazing Insulation -> This flask keeps liquid really hot and really cold, really well. Although I haven't been able to test the full 12/24 hours that it advertises (since I usually finish drinking whatever is inside it before then) but from what I can tell, it is definitely true. Although I usually use a travel mug for coffee, I decided to use this for coffee this morning and it seriously stayed piping hot for 4 hours. If you are going camping, hiking or anywhere honestly you could fill this thing up with hot chocolate or coffee and due to the massive size of this, could fill up roughly 8 coffee servings for friends and family.✓ Sleek Design -> The matte finish on this bottle looks really nice and has a nice feel to it. The lid has a nice rubber grip and lets you open/close it tightly without having to put too much force into it.✓ BPA Free -> This is basically a standard now in all bottles $10 or more, but it's nice to know that you won't be ingesting any nasty chemicals with this bottle.✓ No Condensation -> No matter how cold the water that you put in this bottle is, it won't condensate.CONS✘ Too Wide -> Due to the size of this bottle (without making it too tall) the bottom is too big to fit into the standard cupholder or bike holder. The standard cupholder is roughly 8 cm, while the width of this bottle is 8.9 cm. If you have a larger cupholder than this may fit into your cup holder (I would recommend measuring it beforehand if you're planning on traveling with this bottle). If you are a relatively small person with small hands, there is a good chance you won't be able to hold this with one hand, especially if it's full. If you are planning to use this as a main water bottle, then I would maybe recommend trying to find a smaller one.✘ Heat Magnet (Only with black model) -> The outside of this bottle can get extremely hot if left in the sun. If you are out at the beach or somewhere where you are directly in the sun for long periods of time, try and either leave this in a bag or under something so it doesn't get too hot. I left it outside for maybe only 30 minutes and it seriously felt like I was putting my hand on a hot asphalt.✘ Relatively Thin Layer of Steel -> In order to not make it weigh 100 pounds, this bottle, although strong, feels like it would definitely dent if you dropped it from high enough. With that being said... just try not to drop it.✘ Hand Wash Only -> If you're lazy like me when it comes to doing dishes then this may disappoint you that you have to hand wash it. Really not a big deal, especially if you only use it for water, but still, a little inconvenience.FINAL THOUGHTS ⚖I absolutely love this bottle and I'm surprised I never got one sooner. Being hydrated it probably one of the most important factors to staying healthy, seriously, drink water. You should be drinking roughly 64 ounces of water a day, so if you can go through one and a half of these a days, you're set. At the end of the day, this bottle does exactly what it's designed to do, and more. This is one of my favourite water bottles that I've ever had about 10 (solely just for water). It is a great size so that it only needs to be filled twice to three times to get the 2-3 litre recommended per day. It is very easy to clean as well with the interior being similar to stainless steel.Short Summary:Great bottle. One bad/good thing about it is the big opening - it's good because you can fit ice so if you enjoy ice cold water, but it's bad because you can't drink while walking - at least from my experience any movement would result in water spilling. One other thing is the branding could be turned down a notch, but that's just me being picky - I like minimal branding which is why I went for the black option but it still has the brand name in a few places. Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an everyday bottle that will hold liquid temperature. However, if you are looking for a travel-friendly bottle note that you may find better options (smaller size in general) but as I use it daily it is super helpful to only have to fill it up 2-3 times rather than 5 or moreThe only complaint I can see arising is potential of the paint chipping... I've had it for about 1 month so far and had no such issues. I specifically waited to see if that would be an issue. I think it would only be the case if you drop the bottle often or it is stored with sharp objects like keys. But in that case, it is the fault of use and no fault of the product.In any case, this will get updated if my experience changes. So far the cooling capabilities are as advertised! I can't comment on the heat capacity as I have a coffee mug for that purpose.Hope you found this helpful!

I bought this to replace my more standard size water bottle at work where I can't fill up as easily. This water bottle is a fantastic size for that situation. I think the thickness of the metal bottle is just a little lacking at this size. It has just a little flex to it that indicates it might not hold up well to an accidental drop. It also isn't perfectly round. It looks fine, but feeling it with your hand, you can feel slightly flat sections, like it's a mostly rounded hexagon. The cap is solid and well secured. The strap attaching it to the bottle is also solid, but possibly lacking in flexibility. Part of me wishes the cap was also all metal, but the rubber texture is much easier to grip. At this price, it's a definite recommend.Edit: After several months, I have a few updates. I'm no longer concerned about the metal thickness or construction. It seems solid. The flexibility of the strap securing the cap has improved and become more usable. The plastic cap however, is still leaching a plastic flavor into water left in it for too long. I thought this would go away over time as the bottle got more rinses. But the flavour is still there and about as distinct as day 1. I can't drink yesterday's water, I have to empty it if it's had water in it overnight. So in the end I do wish this was a metal lid. I've deducted one star for this.

A manera de prueba, llene por primera vez el termo con agua fría. Pasaron más de 9 horas entre abriendo, bebiendo y cerrando el envase; y apenas si se nota el aumento en la temperatura del agua. Cuando le eché el líquido, pensé que tal vez el envase se pondría tan frío como el líquido o, peor aún, transpiraría. Pero no fue así.Algunos problemas que tuve con el termo es que cuando se moja por fuera, es difícil sujetarlo, se vuelve resbaloso. Si tienes las manos pequeñas, podrías tener problemas para sujetarlo. Además, la tapadera sella muy bien, evita fugas sin problemas. Sin embargo, no resulta fácil beber del termo dado que es pesado y, el diseño de la boquilla no es mi comodidad. Si te pasas del trago, te empaparás todo.A pesar de ser mi primer termo, recomiendo este producto debido a que cumplió con mis expectativas; es de gran capacidad, no transpira, luce bien y, los más importante, mantiene frías las bebidas.
