I wanted to have something for valentines decorations on my balcony. I read all the reviews on these lights and decided to give them a try, came packaged well, they do use batteries, (double A), you can set them on the timer by the switch on the battery box. I wrapped them around my banister, pushed both buttons on both at the same time, and perfect lights! They are bright enough for me to sit inside to watch them, dancing, steady, twinkle, chasing. Plus you can see them from the parking lot too.The string of lights are delicate, but sturdy.I would recommend them to anyone who wants small size lights, with no hardware except batteries. (Purchased separately).

I love these lights had them hanging on my mantel over the fireplace also on a wreath on my front door. Very bright they had a timer you supplied the batteries which lasted a long time. There was also different modes to which you can put the lights too.
