I am a Special Education Teacher
First know that I am a special education teacher at a high school level teaching students experiencing a variety of barriers including disability, socioeconomic status, and being in process of learning English. I have been teaching individuals who experience disability for going on 20 years. All of my students have had a lot of failure around academics which has led to the additional complication of learned helplessness. These books are an awesome resource to help them push past these barriers in a way that leans on their strengths by making it visual and seem less intimidating. I have been using them for warm ups, challenge questions and "break" days from the normal curriculum to keep them working on their logic and reasoning skills (critical for life as well as math tasks) and keeping the math portions of their brains active. I started off with the free samples but these have been so popular and high demand that I have bought every book that is available to I have as much variety as possible and so I don't run out!

Gives all students an entry point!
Students start feeling comfortable in math when they start talking about these activities because there is no right or wrong answer. It builds their confidence so that they can try more difficult tasks. Having a library from Mashup Math makes it easy to have a variety of activities either for bell ringers or exit tickets, and the students enjoy them!

Great way to spark thinking and discussion
You are typically either right or wrong in math. Every Wednesday, I use this book as a warmup to start conversations and get students to think of possible solutions. All Students are correct as long as they provide a reason. Everyone participates since no one is wrong! Includes several categories! Love this book!

Disappointed
I love the concept, but disappointed in the printing. It is all in black and white. Particularly when it came to the line graphs, having color would have been helpful. Also, the colors are faded and streaked, so it doesn't make for good copy. This would have been far better in color, as the email I receive daily are.

Don’t waste your money.
I love the WODB game and usually find examples online; was excited to get this book. But it was a huge disappointment. All black and white made the pictures difficult to see and images were often unclear. Save your money and just use the internet to find examples. Not worth the money.

Perfect for Math Talks
These are perfect for math talks. I love listening to the students explain their thinking to their partner. Math talks are more meaningful and a lot more fun! Customer Service at Mashup Math was quick to respond when I had a question and very very helpful. They were all about making sure I was taken care of! 10 Stars for Mashup Math Customer Service!

Decided to return it
This book covers many math topics that younger elementary age kids wouldn’t be familiar with. This book is geared more towards middle school age. I also felt for the price the book should have been printed in color. Unimpressed, we decided to return the book.

Disappointing Resource
This resource is not worth the price. It says it is for grade 1 - 8; however, there is not enough variation in the book. I realize that a number of solutions to the challenges are possible but it does not contain any possible answers to solve the challenges. I was very disappointed. I've resorted to creating my own which one is different resource for my students.
