Calypso Basics by Reston Lloyd Powder Coated Enameled Colander, 1 Quart, White

Today's date is October 28th 2019.I purchased this on February 17, 2013.At first when I received this I was so happy with the product. It seems so pretty and it was sturdy and supposedly made out of good material. Overtime I noticed that the paint was puckering but I did not know to what extent I had not idel what it would end up being. At first I only noticed that the paint around the holes in the bottom puckering. Due to some personal issues I had to put the item into storage. It was a regular storage it was not waterlogged or anyting. When I got this out of storage I noticed a couple of things. The paint had peeled completely off. The metal is not a food safe typ metal. It is not stainless steel. Because if it was I would just remove the original enamel. What was left showing was a some kind of metal that has started rusting and corroding. I had planned to keep it and try to recoat it but the more I look into food safe paint I it being very expensive for food safe enamel. I purchased it so I can get something that will last for a very long time. However I barely got maybe two years of use out of this thing; if that.

Bought this 5 months ago. Washed it yesterday and noticed the enamel has already cracked around the base. It is beginning to rust. I’ve never washed this item in the dishwasher or allowed it to soak in the sink. I haven’t even used it that much. Either mine is defective, or the quality is subpar. Very disappointed.

It was good. It is cute. A year later it was rusting through the paint around the seams and two years later the paint on the main piece is bubbling up and rusting.

I bought the 5 quart colander in 2010 in yellow. Just 7 years later, and I've carefully and promptly cleaned it every time after use, it is very discolored and rusty. The discoloring started a couple years after owning it. A picture tells a thousand words, so here is how it looks today. I will not be buying from Calypso Basics again.

The media could not be loaded.  I had read the reviews about this exact problem AFTER I bought it. My bad.It's been babied beyond any other kitchen tool I own, and it's cracking along the seams. The color is also not real, more like a baby blue. There is no way this was meant to be anything more than a display.

Wow!What a great punch of true crayon color orange just for fun:)The shiny silver handles and trim really add to the Happy!Don’t think will be using it to drain any… anything. It is very small.I like it. Kind of expensive for - well. If you need a colander, you may need more than 1 quart.Does appear to be sturdy and durable and is probably - well -tricky to clean. Most colanders are. They - um - have a lot of little holes….If I had any sense I’d return it. I really need a ..No matter. I wonder how many reviews I have written where I ponder out loud: when will I begin to read item descriptions and admit the possibility that numbers really do count and that size might be as important,or even more important.than all the pretty colors.Sigh.The bright little orange colander will look great just sitting …next to my brave little yellow toaster …Put a can of soda next to orange for reference. Seems to help.

I've had this colander for 3 years with occasional use. The paint on the bottom started peeling within the first year, and has gotten much worse so there are large flakey rusty areas now. The inside has started to bubble and flake as well, making it unusable. Before this, I had a plastic colander for 10 years, which I only stopped using when my husband used it as a garden tool. Since this was much more pricey, I'm not impressed with the durability or longevity. I would not buy it again or recommend it to anyone.

Very handsome. We got it to serve as a fruit holder. The holes allow air circulation and they are small enough that the fruit does not sag through them and bruise as it ripens. It looks great on our counter. The color is a very nice rich indigo. BTW, if you're wondering how the bowl will fit onto your counter, it's is 11" across the top (12.5" if you include the handles) and 6.5" high from bottom of the base to the rim.

I've been collecting the Swan Retro range of kitchen goods in their happy yellow colour, and wanted a retro colander too, but could only find boring beige and a couple of blue ones here in the UK. Then I saw this one in a lovely vibrant yellow, so spent way more than is sensible for this one from the USA. And, as you can see from the photo, it matches perfectly and imho just looks so nice. I tend to live my life by the William Morris quote, “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.” and this little colander, I have to say, is BOTH of those things.

Nicely built, sturdy colander. Smaller than I would have liked and the colour slightly less vivid than depicted but no complaints. Its not cheap but it is a quality product.

I can't underestimate how thrilled I was with this colander. Sturdily constructed, traditional style, the right size - but it was the colour that sent me beyond practical appreciation alone ; it is a joy!

Llegó rápido y el empaque en perfectas condiciones, por eso se me hizo raro que el producto llegará como que aplastado por eso no le doy 5 estrellas,por lo q infiero q así me lo enviaron, en realidad es mínimo la irregularidad ,pero aún así lo espera en perfectas condiciones,solamente lo usaré como decoración de mi cocina ya q en general me gustó y se ve bien
